One of many experiences
Two days ago, bloke in diesel Seat Alhambra people carrier risked life and limb to overtake me. He was just driving along at around 50ish and I went by him at 60ish. Loads of room, no aggression next thing blind bends around the outside of me almost losing it on a bend.
Ended up going by him again a couple of miles later as he was tailgating an HGV and not able to see the road ahead was clear.
Next thing right up behind me like a right tw@t. It has to be with driving an Impreza. I also drive a clapped out Polo just for work and back and never seem to run into these people.
Did he think I would be impressed with the power and road holding of a people carrier?
Why, why, why Delilah!

What i used to do was never rise to the bait in my scoob, but clock them, and when i saw them again, would repay the compliment when i was in the van.It was quite amusing looking at them looking back in their rear view mirror not being able to shake off an old transit
Ive grown up a bit now(i think) so dont bother any more-Still got a scoob+vivaro(which is quicker) though

It's not just the chavs....
I was on my way to work a couple of days ago....the road i was on is a 50mph and that's what i was doing, as i never thrash it on the short journey in.
This brand new (and gorgeous i have to admit) Audi A4 3.0l had been tailing me for 2 miles....he finally got right up my ****, pulled out and overtook into incoming traffic, which he couldn't see because of the undulations in the road....which is exactly there are double white lines in the road to ban overtaking as it's dangerous at that point.
Turns out it's a company car from the local dealer and he was taking two blokes on a test drive....he's gonna be so pissed when the NIP lands on his bosses desk...

I'm afraid that Scoobies do attract tw@ts. But then it would be the same with other high performance cars. Scoobies and Evos are icons, thus there is much kudos to be gained by saying that you "did" one, whereas If they loose it's no disgrace. Consequently, most will have a go.
Some idiots just don't seem to understand that just cause you have a fast car doesn't mean that you have to drive it flat out everywhere. In fact when you get a fast car, you have to start to learn to drive slowly, as a sustained prod on loud pedal in the Scooby would result in a ban before you can say, "bye, bye chav in nova!" :-)
Best to let them get on with it, frankly their cars and driving are usually so bad that if you showed them what a scooby can do, they'd just stack it and probably end up hurting someone else. I don't want that on my conscience.

Just had another one at lunchtime! Driving down the dual carriageway i pulled out of lane 1 into lane 2 to pass a Honda CRV in lane 1 (it had a big england sticker in the back window ). As i'm level with his back bumper matey decides to pull strait across into lane 2 in front of me without indicating, and then sits there blocking me.
Ok I think, i'm turning off in a mo so whatever. Matey turns off the same way I'm going onto a single carriageway A-road, and as soon as there's a clear strait i pull out and pass him.
Cue him going totally ballistic, shouting and screaming whilst giving me the finger.
I slowed down again until he caught me up (nothing else on the road), then turned round, made eye contact, and gave him a big grin.
Cue more going ballistic as I disappear into the distance.
Why??!

Not sure if it's just the scooby that does it, although I've had a few run ins with a very optimistic S type Jag owner (2.7 diesel)who has had more than one pop at me from the lights, off roundabouts etc. You'd think the humiliation of trying to outrun someone in the wrong lane so he can jump in front and failing would be enough to put someone off. Obviously not.
Seems to be new higher power diesel drivers who want to have a go more often than not these days rather than anything fun. Can't wait till one of the new twin turbo diesel BMW 5 series decides to take a pop, I want to see how quick they really are. I have a feeling it might be quite close.

I agree with all only had my scooby for a couple of months now an the amount of idiots that try to do you at the traffic lights or roundabout is crazy, iwas on my way home from work tonight an its only about a 10min drive so taking it steady an these 3 lads in a fiesta come racing up behind me get to the lights an pull along side me reving the **** out this car then they all looked round and said " **** its a lass" baring in mind 1 lane goes straight on an the other to turn right, iwas going straight on, as soon as lights were changing all you could here was the fiesta screaming? an off i went an he was still trying to get ahead me as the road narrowed?!? All i can say is why????

I do have to agree, there do be some people out there that think they can take u on, but the best thing is to let off ur BOV and then smile and drive slowely, otherwise just laugh at them, cos theres no point to be made with them.....

Pete as a "Generally hated civil servant....you work it out!" myself, do you bother to NIP when not, you know?

If any1 tries it on with me I except the challenge This includes other scoobs and superbikes
Best thing to do wiv Chavs n the Nova brigade at the lights is to let them have a headstart n then nail the scoob in 1st n still pass em, that always brings a big smile to me, n crying from the challenger Then ease off, they will probably scream past. Drive normally n repass them again as anywhere on our roads is going to be chocka with traffic anyway, and its fairly easy to catchup at normal speed safely with a few purposeful manoeuvres

Even if you have a crap car there will still be a chav wanting a go.
A few years back I drove a car that was borderline chav itself, a 1.6 Escort Sport which is basically an XR3i without fuel injectors or any of the bodykit or colour coding. I'd bought a pair of kerbed to death RS Turbo alloys for 40 quid as they were cheap and let me run a set of 195 width Eagle F1s, exhaust had been replaced with an Ashley system that made notable differences to low end torque...
So, heading home from Sheffield one night, I think it's the A616 that goes through the mountains and ends up in Mottram, I have this chav in a Fiesta XR2i who is tailgating because his car is 7 centimetres per hour faster than mine, really getting on my nerves, so I start to push it a bit on the corners. I've set up my car for grip and acceleration, so (for an Escort) could take corners quite well. Fiesta keeps up initially, before finally losing it and scraping his side against the armco.
He left me alone after that.

Nailed a Can of Chavs.
Driving out of Liverpool, I stopped at some lights near Woolton Hill park.
Can of chavs had been behind (Astra with loud exhaust) for about half a mile giving it the revs and the loud music.
I take off from the lights at an easy pace, can of chavs still behind giving me the 'in yer boot' treatment. Took it up to 60 in a 40 limit (it was a dual carriageway with a blind left bend about half a mile from the traffic lights), I moved to the left lane after passing the traffic and slowed down to just under 40 before the bend. Can of chavs overtakes and occupants were giving me the single finger sign, they carried on accelerating around the bend and left me behind. After the bend I passed them, they were being forced to slow down by a man on a colourful motorbike with a nice blue light on it
I had been down the dual carriageway in the opposite direction about 20 mins earlier and clocked the mobile speed trap after the bend!!
Was I cool or cruel

Rusty: Not quite what I meant, but I see where you're coming from!
I have been known to burble rather slowly past a group of ladies......don't we all do that from time to time though? Nice to see people appreciating the sight of a nice car.
Best.
