The time has finally come to....
Change my current car to something a little more exciting.
I have previously had a new MY02 WRX and then a new MY03 Sti UK Prodrive.
I currenty drive an Audi 3.0 A4 Sport Cabriolet due to the mileage / comfort aspect (& No I Am Not A Hairdresser ! LOL )
Anyway, I have had a change of job which means a lot less mileage, so I can change back to something I actually enjoy driving.
My current comments are:-
WR1 / MY05 Sti PPP ! ( Both good, whats the difference ? )
Evo (No way due to the servicing)
350Z (Did not like the build quality)
Come on folks, give me some opinions, more options.
Cheers
Darren

If you were considering an EVO 260 they come with free servicing for 3 years or 27,000 miles plus they are going for £1000 off list at the moment. Obviously a 260 cant really compare with a ppp or WR1 but its still a pretty good deal.

WR1: exclusive, powerful, wheel & suspension upgrades already included which is a bonus if you'd have bought them anyway.
'05 STI PPP: cheaper (especially Euro import), better interior with climate control, Spec C suspension geometry and yaw sensor give pin-sharp handling. Less controversial choice of colours
'05 JDM STI: similar cost to a used WR1 or UK STI PPP, all the benefits of the '05 STI PPP plus a better engine, HID lights and a few other toys.
There are plenty of other detail differences of course, but all have their pros and cons and you'll have fun driving them all to find the one you like the most!

WR1 mate.
Servicing is much less than an Evo.
Circa £250 at the 5000 mile stage for the Evo and only £50 oil and filter on the Wr1.
I have owned some really nice cars but came back to the WR1 as its different has the diff that I wanted and is black inside.
Great IM warranty too that I need.

Oil alone on the WR1 service is nearly £50 plus an hours labour, filter etc , plus the TWA.T and your looking at £100.
The Evo service is £200 all in where I am.
£100 is £100 pound but not quite £200

Cheers Guys, but all you have done now is to raise some more questions:-
1. MattW
Are you saying that the service interval of the WR1 is every 5000. If this is right, then it is news to me. I honestly thought it was the same as my previous Sti @ 10,000 ?
2.Staffs Mike
Again I didn't know about the 3 years free servicing. Is this on only the 260 ?
3. AndyC 772
Yes mate, nice comments. I dont really want to get an import, and the thought of paying alot more for what is basically cosmetics (WR1 over MY05 Sti PPP If I am right) is not for me.
4. Arron
Why is the WR1 every 5000 miles ? and all the others 10000 approx. And is it not true that the new MY05 Sti comes with the DCCD ?
5. STI4Me
Not really a Vauxhall is it. I thought it was a Holden, so it has to be better than a normal Vauxhall. One thing to say on this subject, RESIDUALS !
Cheers Guys

I think you'll find that all DCCD-equipped cars (ie. all the options you suggest, including the UK/Euro '05 STI) have 5000 mile service intervals, although the 5k service is just an oil change. Major services are every 10k.
If you want a more exciting car then I think your options are indeed limited - that's why I ended up buying another scooby! I looked at a few other cars - Audi A3 3.2 V6, Alfa 156 GTA and Evo FQ-300 - but only bothered to test drive the Evo. I walked away deeply impressed but totally uninspired. Then I tried both UK and JDM STIs and ordered the Japanese MY05 car. (It arrived yesterday and it's bloody marvellous!).

One thing that is overlooked too which is in favour of the WR1 is insurance. As the car is standard 320PS, insurance quotes are typically equivelant to a standard STi (265PS) and therefore the premium for PPP is not levied.
