That is unbelievable!!!!! You should report it to the police immediatley! (I think that is how you spell it!). It just covers you in case of any trouble. Provided your car is within the legal limits for noise you should have no problems. If it is slighly modified "cough" then maybe you can sweeten them by inviting them round for a barbecue! Wrong time of year, I know!

stop shouting just go round to them and say what is it that you don't like. also do you use your car very early in the morning to go to work or late at night they might just not like those particular elements

So if they make a nuisance complaint, police come round, do a road side emissions test......
Unfortunately as more and more nuisance laws come in, if it is classed as a nuisance, then you could be asked to quiten it down.
Do you sit and idle it on the drive letting it cool down? If you do, try approaching your home at a slower pace so it's already cooled down by the time you are home so you can just switch it off.
Personally I'd go over and discuss with them what the problems are and what can be done about it. They'll think a lot more of you that way.

my dad had kinda the same problem with his 911, but i think theres nothing better to hear in the mornig than the sweet sound of a 3.6 litre engine............lol
there jus people who have nothing better to think about!
tell the police that they've made a "threat", but only so that their aware of the possible situation, that way u've covered ur back

If they haven't got tax, MOT or insurance, I'm sure a word in the right place might be a worthwhile venture
I guess you'll have to play the waiting game then and see what they do

I know how you feel i had a neighbour that obviously has a hearing problem as well. He couldn't understand why i let my car warm up for a few minutes or cool down. And told me in all his 60+ years he has never heard of anything so ridiculous(dont mean to offend any 60+ scooby owners). He then told me that he has sent a letter to my landlord about my car and the other so called race cars that came around as we all do. Little did he know that it was my brother in law and it back fired on him. So we moved out due to work commitments and the new tenants have a nice noisey old MG that needs to be revved to get it sorted in the mornings, i still drive past his house stop for a bit and let it rumble away and then give it some . Oh the joy hehehehe...

I don't have a problem as such but when I used to leave my RB5 ticking over outside or when I was pulling up the noise used to reverberate around the house as a sort of low bass hum. The Scoob has now been replaced by a 3 year old and a 4 week old, if they were woken before time every day by an exhaust I would be pretty pissed aswell. Try to talk to them and come to and understanding as believe me the last thing you want is run ins with neighbours. As an example if they call the police and council numerous times you will have to declare each and every incident when you sell the house and it may put potential buyers off having frumpy neighbours. On the other hand they may just damage the car when your not looking.
Good luck and think how you might be upsetting their life with your car.

I'd keep the note as evidence and send them one back saying: "pray for the condition of my car, cause if anything happens to it, I'll know who to send the police to"
Best.
Best.

I don't know if any of you own your own homes? But you need to get on well with you Neighbours....it can make it rather unpleasant if you do fall out.
I have a guy who lives near me with a VR6 with a nice loud exhaust....only he makes sure I hear it every time he drives past, even when I am in bed! He could make it less loud by selecting the next gear up
After a while it gets on your ****.....so stop acting like a mongs and keep things quiet! No need to rev your car, or let it tick over for exsessive amounts of time. Just show a little bit more courtesey to your Neighbours!

I have to say, I do like the rumble of a nice scooby but I can see it from the other side as there is a mong in a chaved out MK1 Evo and the exhaust is so loud that even I think its too loud, as in you can hear this thing miles away. To make matters worse, all he ever seems to do is drive round in circles.
