Whats wrong with my subaru?
Hi,
got myself a subaru impreza wrx type ra, i love it to bits however when accelerating with my foot flat on the floor it keeps jerking and wont let me accelerate until i take my foot off the floor a bit. does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem is? and how do i overcome it.
cheers

definately check the spark plugs. make sure they are gapped at 0.7mm
I used to have this problem too and it was the spark plugs. they were gapped at something like 1.1mm which is too big for high revs
make sure they are decent plugs also.
otherwise you could clean the boost solenoid, search the general technical forum for details of how to do this.
If the car has a decat exhaust then you could be overboosting due to the lack of restriction. The ecu will cut the power when you go over 1 bar or something like that. I also had this problem but never corrected it as the car written off not long after. Believe it or not though, putting the bung back in the massive tailpipe stopped the overboosting!
I think the best way to overcome the overboosting issue (if thats the case) is a remap, but i believe you can buy a dawes device for about £40 which will increase the boost limit.
There are people on here a lot more technical than me so hopefully they will reply, but if i was you i'd go for spark plugs first.
