STI Back Box - Cheap!!
Took my scoob for its 1,000 mile service Friday, asked about a back box as I didn't want the twin pipes. Got taken to the back of the building where they had around 30 STI back boxes - Asked the obvious question, expecting them to say £250-£300. Got a lovely surprise when I was quoted just £96 inc vat and fitting. ("STI" embossed on the left hand side of the exhaust).
Said yes there and then, looks lovely, sounds better than twin pipes, not as good as others I've heard, but hey, £96, STI back box, it's the fookin bo11ocks!
Apparently the Service Manager gets them all delivered "transport mileage" and they get changed for Prodrive exhausts. So he keeps them and sells them on as "transport mileage" second hand deals. Bloody good deal if you ask me.... He says he likes to keep his customers happy.
Can I tell you the dealer name? Am I supposed to? Do you want to know?
Well pleased from Surrey.

No way rip off dealer, don't you get it it... I am PLEASED with what I got, so how can I feel ripped off??
Cheam Motors, Surrey. great people.
I have the look on my 2004 WRX that I want, and at a price that I did not expect, £96 is not a lot IMHO, just wanted to share it with others as the wife is truly bored with the cr@p coming out of my mouth!!!
:-)

Sounds like the dealer is selling other peoples back boxes removed from there cars when having a PPP fitted these belong to the customer and should be returned along with all the other bits except the ECU which is exchange.

You ScoobyNet people... all the same... if the customer doesn't want it, shall we throw it away, or shall we sell it for some profit? My old exhaust is now in my garage... and what shall I do with it.. .let it rot or see if I can be bothered to get £5 on e-bay for it??
Don't diss the dealer, he's pleased me, I expect high prices and I'm welcome to deals which cost less then £1,000 for anything. For me, just like Brucie... The price was right!

John. Its good that your are happy (kind of) but next time just do a quick post to ask people if they have the part. You know there will be more to come so you better have the cash ready
Just buy something cheap on here to get over it.
Ray
BTW. What do you drive?

Whole point I think people are trying to make is that the back boxes are free to the Dealer, as they come off when PPP is fitted. Whilst you may be very happy with your purchase it is doubtful as to if the Dealer actually owns the back box he sold.....
He should have let you have it for nothing .............

No i'm not implying you've been ripped off - i paid £50 cash to take the box away, the parts guy told me the sales guys sell these to customers who buy new scoobs and don't like the twin pipes for £150 fitted!!!!!! now thats a rip off

I was given the option to have all my pre-prodrive oily bits back from the dealer, I only wanted the backbox and sold it for £10 a few weeks later.
The skip around the back of the dealers was full of sti backboxes and other pre-prodrive oily bits, I'm sure the fitter would of given me another backbox for free.

Good old Scoobynet. Someone gets something at a price they're happy with, wants to tell people about it and next thing they know there's a load of posts up about how much cheaper they could have got it for. Give it another few posts and i'm sure someone will be along to say that John could have had their back box for free, along with a new set of tyres and some fluffy dice to hang round the rear view mirror!

I had my PPP fitted at Cheam Motors and I demanded that they gave me back the original exhaust. I ended up giving it away for free to Chris Singleton. He picked it up of course.
