Desperately seeking - WRX driver (archive)
For a "Surprise Surprise" style pick up of our daughter from outside her school in Wellingborough, on Thursday the 17th November as a sixteenth birthday treat, we are looking for a WRX owner/driver who would be prepared to make themselves and their car available from 2.45 pm to mission-end at 4.15 pm.
Our daughter is Scooby mad but has never actually been inside the car of her dreams. From school, we would appreciate a country roads/dual carriageway detoured trip of about 10 miles distance back to our house. We are sure that a trip in a WRX Scooby would be the highlight of our daughter's celebrations and so different to travelling in our MPV.
Naturally we would cover driver's expenses for this treat.
If there is anyone who may be able to help, then please email me. Thankyou
Kazik

Not local to you so I can't help, sorry. But have you considered one of the driving days offered by many corporate entertainments firms ? Not sure about the rules with some of them regarding age and driving license, but I know my mate Howard at Rallydrive teaches performance driving to over 15's at his private circuit near Gainsborough in one of his Scoobs (intro in a Mini Cooper).
My G/F and I visited him a couple of times before getting our own Scoob, and now I rent his circuit regularly for Trackdays with friends. We always found it best to book a midweek half-day and ensure we got Howard (30+years international rally driving) just between the 2 of us to maximise driving time.
There are others such as RallySchoolGB, www.billgwynne.com, Bedford Autodrome and the more corporate orientated like Tangerine and Everyman. But I like Rallydrives personal service, being a small company.
Good luck, hope she enjoys her day

Just a thought...
The cheapskates alternative would be to take the 24 hour test drive offer that Subaru recently announced.

You never know, you might be reluctant to hand the keys back.

That said, I'm sure you'd be able to arrange in advance some means of ensuring this really is genuine. Apologies to the person making the request as I'm sure this probably is genuine but you can't be too careful these days.

now there's a vision - held up by a "just sixteen" girly with a shotgun!
It have to be a wagon cos the back seats dont go down in the saloon.
no offence intended Kazik. i would do it, i had similar ride in a 308GTS for the same treat, im just not in the area.

Quite frankly i wouldnt be putting my daughter in a Scooby with someone i didnt know driving whether it was the car of her dreams or not. Just puts more pressure on the driver for the drive to be memorable, and as such bound to give it some.... How much is the unknown quantity.

The post is from a first time poster, and yes it does seem from first read a bit unusual, imho and sry to the poster, i would have to say its a bit suspect,That said, how about a few scoobynetters go together and really Surprize the Birthday Girl?

Any slim, blonde, large-breasted nymphomaniac Ferrari 355 Berlinetta owners out there willing to 'treat' a 41 year old petrolhead to a birthday 'spin' in a few weeks?

Sorry, but I must be the only one who thinks this is genuine Although some sensible precautions like home Telephone number and Postcode etc. We all seem to be looking more at strangers in negative way Perhaps I've had a sheltered life and the born 'Mug' waiting to be suckered I like to think the best of peeps
If It was in my Area I would try to help out. Surely the Wellingborough Area that's prepared to help

I'm with you Tony, way too many concerned people, we would want to be thought of as genuine, but can't accept that anyone else might be.......

A reply to replies
Thanks guys for all you replies and comments. Apologies for the delay in this posting, being a hardworking, self-employed plumber for more than normal waking hours, restricts coherent access to the computer.
Well spotted and thanks for pointing out my date error. Birthday is definitely Wednesday 17th.
Daughter has already had a First Drive Mini Cooper two hour driving session around paddock roads at Rockingham Raceway. Thanks for the track days ideas.
Will probably go to Bedford Autodrome in February, to follow on from this years visits to Jap Car Extravaganza at Great Billing and October's gathering at Santa Pod.
Have already applied for extended test drive. Subaru booking system worked well with quick response but local dealer won't have 05WRX available before mid December.
Respect to all concerned for security and safety of their cars.
We have the same concern for our daughter's welfare and would not contemplate letting her travel in the Scooby without us.
We are very pleased to have received an encouraging response from one Scoobynetter, look forward to further contact.
