Was drivin the pennine moors on monday and there was a stretch which had a reduced speed limit of 50mph so i slowed down which i had no choice about coz there was a truck sluggin along in front of me. I then notice a traffic cop parked up 1/2 mile in front so i made sure i wern't speeding and just cruised past at 50mph.

Anyway on Wed a letter popped through my door sayin i was doin 64mph and i've got a fine & 3 points. GUTTED and well P1SSED OFF!!!

Is there anyway of contesting it? and has anyone ever done it before?

I could understand if it was for doin 54 or summot like that but its sayin i was doin 14mph over what i thought i was doin and i had a lorry in front off me so summots not right!!!!!!!!

 

Donno what you can do m8,i tried arguing my case against them and got nowhere. Uncomprimizing unreasonable robots is what we're up against,driven by statistics and greed.

I'm well pee'd off the now aswell,just spent £350 on a s4 neo and drove past a camera van yesterday, not one beep did it make.

They are my only threat,no fixed collection boxes up here.
I've just bought the worlds most expensive digital clock and compass .

Ah, but do you think they got you while you were COMING UP behind the truck, before slowing? If it was a laser, they can get you from a mile.

Ask for photographic evidence, so you can see where you were.

Not being funny but are you sure the van you saw was the van that nicked you. A friend had a simailar experience where a van was out in plain view with the mobile warning signs as required. He slowed for that one but got nicked up the road by another. He admits that after passing the van he thought he was "safe" and went on to get a ticket.

Also on my MY00 the speedo is 5mhp fast when doing sixty according to a road angel 2. Having tried it in half a dozen cars all speedo's read on the low side (as per the law). So if you think you were only doing an indicated 50 or just over..chances are you were definately not speeding.

If your that sure you can take it all the way to court where photos can be produced or interestingly.... calibration certificates of the equipment can be asked for. If not obtainable or up to date I believe you get off.

Is there a time limit of when they can send a speeding ticket to you? 2 weeks have gone since I flew through an unmarked Discovery, with cameras in the back?

 

Above commects re the camera's getting you a mile away is correct. Could be even more. They see you b4 you see them.
Also I would only go to court if you have some good evidence on your side. Go to court , found guilty, pay court costs and also increased fine. You won't get more points though. My mate just got done for 6 points and £300 fine for doing 80 in a 50.

You're probably safe. The two times I've been had by mobile crews, teh ticket was on my door mat within a week. The quickest one being 4 days !!!

 

did you get the name of the wagon in front of you?? if you did phone them for a copy of the tacho out of the wagon to prove your speed and the time you went past,i now its a long shot about getting the company name but you never now.
