A sad day is approaching :(
I have been thinking about this for a little while now.
As you may know, i had a car jacking incident earlier this year.
I live in birmingham and it appears that there are some people around this area who will do almost anything to get their hands on your scooby
This combined with the drop in value of the second hand market has left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth.
I bought a ford ka as a runabout after the car jacking, and this left me with the opertunity to think of other less practical second cars.
So i am afraid that it is time to say bye bye to the scooby
and hello to my new baby
I wont be picking it up for a couple of weeks.
Its a 1999 S1 111S with 15,800 miles on the clock and fsh
I will miss the scoob though.
And dont think you will be getting rid of me off here either
PS
It looks orange in the second photo
but its calypso red

I have registered with the lotus club and spoke to their members, and they say no.
They are such a low production car that parts are hard to shift, and they are no good for ram raids or getaway cars as it takes ten minutes to get into one

Its come as a surprise to me as well!!!!!
TBH if i had'nt bought the ka, i would still probably keep the scooby.
I had liked the elise ever since it was launched.
After the car jacking and using it as a second car just gave me a push.
Dont worry though, get that water splash sorted and i will bring it up to show you

Sad to say it but my STi going too.
I now work in a hospital in Glasgow with no staff parking at all (unless you're in management). All staff have to park in the street and its not the best area. I had only been working at this hospital for 1 week when I returned to my STi one night after work (street now deserted and dark) and found the near-side front window smashed in. They had used section of heavy chain to break in and had caught the A pillar and black strip around the door. They got nothing out the car which contained no valuables but caused £425 of damage. Claiming from insurance would not have been worthwhile so I had to pay this.
So I've just bought a 1997 Honda Civic 1.4 for £2400.
STi will be sold shortly.

Hi Greg & Alison
Yep, it's a hard choice moving away from a scoob. Lovely looking motor you're getting an a Ka for pootlin' around Brum in sounds just fine to me.
After more than 5 years drivin an Impreza, last week I've moved away too
Main reasons I didn't go for a WRX were overall costs (OK, yeah, I could have accepted that ), but it's the high number of thefts that we hear about on here (let alone the ones we don't know about!!) that have turned me away!! What happened to you really shook me up I can't imagine how you both must have felt!
OK I know the scumbags in desperation will go for anything, but hopefuly, we're lessening the risk?
Enjoy your new motor, and hope to see you both around sometime soon

What have you gone for now?
It is hard to part with the scooby.
I can't think of a single car at this price that will do the same job and be as much fun to drive.
I am sure we will see each other at one show or another.
Tour of wales 2005 perhaps

Greg,
Noooooooooooooooooooooo!!
Sorry to hear that you are getting rid of the scooby.
I think we all appreciate the trauma you and Alison went through, so i'm not surprised. I am surprised it's taken this long for you to change.
If your never going to be happy and secure driving the Scoob then it's probably best you have a new change.
I hope to see you back in a scoob in a few years time, when the other cars you get aren't up to scratch
Craig

Frank
It happened at 1:30pm in a residential area near shops with people around.
My doors were locked. They drove into the back of my scooby gently in a stolen golf.
Just enough to get me out of my car.
The rest is history.......
Craig
It was a hard decision to make.
But keep a space for me the sidc stands
I will hide it in the corner
