Advice Please - Getting Mods
Gidday Fella's! (& lasses)...
Just after some advice - got a MY02 WRX STi Prodrive and would like to go for a full de-cat and maybe a re-map later on down the line.
My query is, will I require any monitoring devices (boost gauges, knock link etc.) if I go this route. Don't much fancy all the pods, dials 'n' stuff on the interior. Wondered if this would be a problem or not.
I would like to break that 300 BHP duck, but it would have to be safely, don't fancy the engine going **** up! (especially if there's no warranty to speak of!).
Yean thought about PPP aswell, but it is mucho euro for limited horses.
Any help appreciated.

Eddie,
Be carefull going dowm the Full decat route without remapping it Sure early UK classics had no problems with Total decat, but the newage STi a tottaly diferent animal.
I believe when the first MY02STis came out some peeps experimented with Total decating and had major problems with very high boost spikes. The ECU can try to protect the engine and give you less boost ultimately having less power than before Decated or engine may might just go bang
There was a sort of fix by changing the brass restrictors in boostvalve pipework. but it's your engine Most replace the the valve with a 4 port one and have a remap far safer IMHO a remap is £700 and you'll get the best from the engine. An engine rebuild is about £5Kish
Also there was issues with the 02 Fuel pumps seem to handle 265 OK, After a few blown engines at 300bhp fuel pump were the likely suspect. They are replaced with most respectable power uprades like PPP, powerstation, tsl333 etc etc as a precaution.
If you go down the pefromance route knocklink is a must IMHO
This might be perfectly Technically correct but it was how someone Technical explained to a dimwit Layman me
