Default Top speed of a MY98 UK Turbo

Evening,

what realistically is the top speed of an MY98 UK Turbo with a full decat? I was lucky enough to have a run on an airfield a few months back but never pushed it over 125mph as there was not much space left!!

cheers

Ash

In my old one I ran up to 158mph,the clock only goes to 160,also had 1k of revs left.

(obviously on a private road)

Thumbs up

As above: full decat, Link remap by BRD, pulls like a train. Private airfield, I bottled it at an indicated 150 with it STILL pulling like mad, and at least 1500 revs left!

I've had mine off the clock with a UK MY95. That was just a full de-cat and panel filter as the only mods. My speedo is a little optomistic though as 70mph on my GPS is around 75mph indicated on the speedo. I'd guess a genuine 150mph was achieved, maybe a little more.

UK MY98 with full decat 160mph with a passenger. Wanted more but that was all she had to offer.

Saw an indicated 160 MPH in my old MY99, not flat out or foot on the boards - the best thing was that even at that speed it felt rock solid and 'planted' on the road.

Autobahn: 160 [clock speed] MY98 Terzo with PPP full decat blah blah blah and a passenger.
Paul, I was running Prodrive suspension and it really did feel planted. What setup did/do you have.

Mine took a year to reach 150(indicated) from an indicated 140

I also read on various threads that an indicated 150 is a true 135ish??

MY97 did 152mph, with passenger and loads of stuff in the boot.
Would have gone faster but nerves gave out

Default Top Speed

Cheers for the replies, I'm planning to take the car to Germany in the New Year so will have to see what i can get out of it.

Interestingly i tried putting a mate's GPS device in the car, and it actually read about 3mph slower than the speedo was indicating. I have 18" wheels i wonder if that makes any difference??

cheers

i touched 170 from a standing start with a spped trap 1.25 miles down the runway at TOTB3. speed was in fact 155 when i got the slip. not bad i thought in 1.25 miles. stil some revs left of the 8250 red line

I also read on various threads that an indicated 150 is a true 135ish??
this would seem to verify brybusa's theory of 8 - 10% error on speedos
cheers

sinky

Std it good for about 145 - 150, add a couple mph for decat. Above above 130mph it won't feel like a rocket ship, and when you max it it will have 1000+rpm left on the clock.

Bigger wheels will reduce margin on under read on the speedo

You definately get anything up to a 10% higher reading on speedo than actual speed.
To tell the truth it might have saved a few licenses along the way!

Cool

Although NOT a UK spec MY98...

...my MY98 did 152mph exactly [indicated speed] @ 7500rpm exactly.
And going the other way it read exactly the same.
A windless sunny evening, btw.

Doubtless, that 3 lane UK airfield now has speed camaras !!

I thought that 10% error is actually less, so an indicated 150mph is nearer 140mph ?????

Not sure if a full de-cat would increase top-end ???
Thought that would only increase acceleration !!!

Type R V-Ltd (no sti bits) but does have close ratio gear box.
