Angry Do I own a MY01 or a fiesta tdci hire car

After nearly 2 years of non stop problems had over 20 claims on waranty this year. The car has had every sensor changed. new ecu. All authorised from IM.

Car has been in garage for roughly 1 week per month.

Dealer finally found problem...........

Valve guide has popped out of head so the valve is sitting bout half inch open all the time.

Been treated like poop after 6 years of scooby ownership why do IM try to take the **** out of loyal customers.

I think you mean valve shim.

rapidly fluctuating boost gauge, popping and banging, loss of power etc.

Default Futher observations

Surely a shim popping out would reduce the amount the valve opens not increase it - and even then 1/2 inch ??

Awful - but surely really down to the dealer rather than Subaru themselves - and just think of all the petrol money you've saved in the meantime

Plus, full new set of sensors and a new ECU!! All without cost to yourself.

Sounds alright to me

if the valve shim pops half out without leaving the follower completely it will jack the valve open, and it can happen, I've seen it personally after someone went a bid happy with the antilag. Although i would have thought it would have come clean out with an over bucket shim. I think it unlikely a valve guide would come out without dropping the valve or causing all sorts of other damage.

Either way, valve stuck open isn't good.

Paul

Sorry to hear about the problems

The dealer (which you have mentioned in your Cumbrianscoobs.co.uk post) has looked after my car and many others and has a pretty good reputation for customer service
