ScoobyNet Moderator Conference This Weekend - Your Input Welcome!
Hi All
This saturday the majority of the moderator team are meeting.
The main topics on the agenda are centered around moderator policy, and general brain storming (as you can imagine it will be one hell of party!! )
We would really welcome your comments also (constructive please ) about anything major that would make things better for all of you.
Quite often the loudest members are those that take most of the attention, but of course the vast majority of you just enjoy the site and have fun. You may also have some ideas but don't pipe up and tell us about them.
This is your chance.. so please tell us what you think, any ideas, or just general comments about the way we moderate would be superb.
Don't let the vocal minority colour our views on how to support you, have your say so we get a balanced view
We'll report back after the meeting and let you know how we got on.
All the best
Simon and the ScoobyNet team

I echo Allan's comments, job well done guys! Rest on your laurels and have a beer!
Just make sure you keep us on the straight and narrow. I think that the cases when somebody feels they are being unjustly treated are usually down to the fact that they are not looking at the situation as a whole. I think Chelle once said read your post through before hitting that reply key - much time and aggro could be saved if people did this. Oh - that was aimed at us, not you
One last word - make sure Dyney has had a wash if he is going

Wow.. thank you!
It's always really nice to see people willing to take the time to simply post "all's good, well done.. I don't want anything!". It is easy to complain / be vocal when you actually want something, but it's really touching that people are willing to take the time to respond, merely to say everything's good
We won't be resting on our laurels though, as we want to make things better all the time
Thanks again though
All the best

No major complaints other than there are frequently threads in the computer section which are openly discussing software piracy (where the best torrent sites are with links etc). I've used the rtm feature to try and get them locked / removed, but to date have always been ignored by the mods...
Not very nice for those of us on here who make our living writing the stuff...
Otherwise, job well done

I have no complaints.
I think that the moderators do a great job (apart from that evil, power crazy PaulPalmer! ) in the face of a sometimes insurmountable wall of bullsh1t!
Fight the good fight.

Hold an Annual Awards ceremony late in December (with it's own forum) Where we could vote for Personality of the year, Mod of the year, Thread of the Year, Post of the Year etc and award prizes for the winners.

Some years ago I threw my toys out of my pram as a mod put up a lot of personal views which I found offensive. My point was that many may hold these views, but the mod, as some sort of "representative" of scoobynet, should not be seen to condone such behaviour or imply that it was acceptable to the "community".
OTOH there is the very valid comment that mods are human and are entitled to their own opinions.
I have my own opinions on many things, but if I make them as a representative of my company, I'll get fired.
My first solution would be to suggest that they create an extra, "normal" login where they can post frankly whatever they want and be treated accordingly. Stuff under the "mod" login should be more, erm, moderate If this is taken on board, I'd suggest that the two logins should not be obviously linked (like "name" / "name2"). Hell, there's enough other anonymous trolling going on, I don't see the problem with adding 5 more users to 40k...
I don't know the answer. I just know it's a damned hard and usually thankless task, and I appreciate the work you all do

Ah well.
In fairness it hasn't happened to me since, so perhaps it's a non-problem. It's the only thing I could think of: unlike many, I have no problems with moderators!
I have no further questions m'lud.

SN is the best forum IMHO - but can we please have a "Trash Can" so not all of the "rubbish" ends up in Muppets?
No real complaints about the Mods, except: Sammyh, PaulPalmer, Little Miss WRX and DaveW - who are all completely bonkers
Keep up the good work!
