Exclamation WR1 Boost solenoid pipework recall

Took my MY00 Turbo in for an interim service in Cirencester today, & whilst paying I spotted a recall notice on their desk dated today. Something to do with the pipework associated with the boost solenoid on the WR1. I don't know if its urgent, safety related or something that they'll sort the next time you get the car serviced.

I did hear about this a little while back, so I'm surprised IM's notice is dated today

As I understand it, the manufacturers of the pipework didn't actually use the specified grade of material, which has lead to a couple of cases where the pipe work has started to show some signs of heat damage.

What I was told was that in the main, the pipes would probably just be replaced when the car was in for it's next service. However, I suspect cars that were serviced in the last couple of weeks may need to be invited in.

Given my limited knowledge, it doesn't strike me as exactly dangerous, and not in the same league as the 5 urgent notices I received in the first 9 months I owned a ford a few years back.

It's not a recall, it's a Service Campaign which is quite different. On some cars we have found that the boost control hosing has deteriorated due to thermal loading from the turbo and we are asking dealers to change these hoses when they see your car. Failure of this part is not a safety issue and the only thing that would happen is the CEL coming on for an overboost as it is designed to do.
from mike wood on the WR1oc.....

Thumbs up

Sorry the info was so vague, but only caught a very quick look. It was definitely dated 13/12/04. Thanks to tuscan57 for clearing up the finer points!
