Ok Had some serious holidaying to do and missed donno what happened?
Did Johnfelstead melt or break anything?
Did Stef manage to keep it on the track
Did Chatmistress solve her moral crisis and go?
So many questions so much gossip...

A really good day .
Great weather and loads of scoobys .
There is some great footage taken by stef and of stef. Awesome tyre squealling antics .
I am sure the guys on the track will give you their own accounts of the day.
Nice to catch up will everyone again and to meet a few new faces.
Only downside for the day for me was it took me 20 minutes to clear castle donington going home. I think I should have gone right rather than left at the main gate .
Sorry no pictures couldn't be bothered .
cheers

Quick summary:
Harj managed one fast lap corner before retiring for the day (broken speedo cable).
John broke the wastegate actuator on his Westie and GGR brought a new one up for him at lunchtime. By about 3pm, the Westie was requiring another wastegate actuator
Shaun took his Cossie on track and scared the hell out of everybody, including himself
Jase C took out his new (very shiny) STi and managed a big spin. The exhaust note of this car is wild, white noise.
Ian G was also on track in his very nice sounding Scoob.
Tuckshop was having a lot of fun in his very well sorted Type R (ringer). But maybe not as much fun as SDB had in it Can anybody say late braking ?
SDB spent the afternoon testing everybody's Scoobies. (Testing = Can I get the back end out).
Duke Video (guys who make all those motorsport vids) were there doing a lot of filming including using lipstick cameras on the outside of cars for a forthcoming video about the Scooby.
And last (but not least), Stef's antics in the final session were nothing short of loony, some one lock him up Think he spent most of one lap on the grass/gravel rather than tarmac and this included doing most of Redgate around the outside of Jase, on the gravel rejoining the track at about the Curves. Fruitcake. Stef, top entertainment.
All in all, very good day. Nice and warm (not as bad as last one), lot of good fun had by all.
And thanks to Harj, Ian and John for the laps. Like Chris, couldn't be bothered doing any video or photos today.
Cheers
Ian

Great to see everybody today!
A Big thank you to everyone who was stupid enough to let me abuse their pride and joy
Basic Structure of the day...
- John was fast, then something broke...
- I bottled out of driving on track...
- I was muscled into it...
- Shaun was a big girl about his lovely Cossie...
- Stef was sideways a lot then a bit too much (3 times )...
- Tyres Northampton saved the day about 100 times...
- Porsches got overtaken many many many times...
- That bloody white volvo went off at the old hairpin in front of me AGAIN!!!...
- Don Palmer sat with people, didn't seem to say much and strangely they became better!!! (WHOAH!)...
A Subaru Video was made...
Top day.
Cheers
Simon
PS. Please don't kill me shaun ...
you big girl... (damn!)

top day as usual.
didnt manage to melt anything today, went onto a new phase, lets start snapping things LOL
Had a good chat with a rad specialist about my cooling and they are gonna make me a custom rad that uses my current ducting and mounts but uses the core from an F1 car, that should cure my overheating once and for all!
i tried slicks for the first time on this car and they were total pants, no feel and nasty snap oversteer, they were off a national saloon cup race car and were just too hard for my lightweight westfield so i never got them hot.
I am going back to my avons, they are top fun, very progresive and pretty high grip levels for a road legal tyre.
I wasnt lapping any quicker than on my avons and it felt horrible, bit of a disapointment, still the day was fun.
I managed to stay with the green 420BHP race westfield in the corners but on the straights, forget it, that thing has 420BHP and it looks like it has!! Boy it's quick.
I was sat with stef on his last run as my actuator had snapped, top laugh. It's actually more sane sat in the car than looking from the outside, the scooby is just so chuckable and stef has it fairly sussed now, that last run through redgate though, way off line must have been at least 30 feet into the gravel and the scoob still came out the other side, absolutely hilareous.
Thanks to watty and harj for getting me the bits i needed and to everyone else for making it fun once again, big thanks to mark at tyres northampton who worked his nuts off for us, top bloke.

Yes, I hold my hands up and admit I am a wuss
She is my pride and joy, and know ones gonna hurt her!!!!
I totally bricked it on track, but then it doesnt help when Harj is shouting "Go on then, floor it!!!!!!!" Especially when a Porsche GT is right up ya ****!!!!!
I was stressing about getting whacked, my head gasket blowing, fuel surge, my tyres & my brakes........but apart from that it was OK
The only way you can redeem yourself Simon, is by making me a moderator
Shaun.
P.S. When you gonna take me to Mira then????

The video was delayed and delayed and below is about the 4th email i have had from them. So now they turn up at Donno on Friday.....hmmmmmmmmm

Ignore the message icon (for now), I actualy had a really good day! It was my first time at Donnington and someone timed one of my quickest laps at about 1m 32s (is the Ericsson T28 the only mobile with a stopwatch? Is that a good time for a Scoob?)
At first I wasn't sure that I liked the circuit, but once I got used to my new Powerstation suspension set up (free plug), I really started to enjoy it.
Harj, sorry about the speedo cable (been there, as you know) it f**ks the day up a bit!
Mark (Tyres N'hampton), thanks once again for your services - next time bring some mates to help!
John F, it was nice talking to ya, must get out in your car at some point. And yes the green Westfield is nuts - fastest car I've had the pleasure of being driven in (bye bye everything!)
Cheers to everyone else I met for the first time or otherwise.
Now about that message icon. The one downside to my day was the bottom end failure I suffered in my final laps (big end was the professionals opinion) - more bloody expense. Still the car will be back, and better than ever I can assure you.
I eventually got home some time around 10pm (what a long day!) on the back of a flat bed recovery truck. Still as I said it was enjoyable for both me and my girlfriend (oh, and my mate in his 300ZX, who also extends his thanks to all for a top day out!)

A very enjoyable afternoon - nice to get away from work for a few hours.
Quote of the day goes to Don Palmer....

quote:
It's got the aerodynamics of an oven ready turkey.

...when refering to either Mr Meltsteads Westie or the Westie V8 from Hell.
Stef's antics in the gravel at Redgate / Hollywood just happended to be captured on camera by Simon driving Jase's STI.
A few (about 12?) of the scooby folk stopped at a nice pub afterwards for some drinks, grub and plenty of banter.
Shame I couldn't get there earlier .
Chris.

As everyone has said, it was an absolutely top day. Used slicks for the first time at Donno, mental. One car Simon wasn't able to slide around in!
However, at the end of the day I decided to put my road tyres back on for a bit of fun. Had a great couple of laps playing follow-my-leader with Rob Mac, both sideways round every bend. Top fun.
Went a bit too far on the last lap though and put CK 1 through the gravel. I think I was getting a bit carried away, and Redgate is not one of the bends I'm familiar with when it comes to sliding. It may look rather dramatic, but I still have much to learn when it comes to proper car control. MIRA beckons methinks.
Sunilp.
Duke had been in contact with me also, and I received the same mail. However, I told them that a few of us were going to Donno if they were interested. I guess they were, and now CK 1 and everyone else will be famous!!!!
Stef.

Your car was Truly Awesome on those slicks.. thank you very much for the drive, I only wish I could have done a better job of it. Each time I passed an apex I thought "Damn, could have been 10 MPH faster!!!"
You seemed to have the hang of it though... I saw you go into turn 1 (sorry don't know the names) on one lap and I have to say it was impressive... really nice smooth on-the-limit driving.
Not quite as impressed with the last couple of laps mind you! You logger!
Also forgot to mention!!.....
Thank you to Mike Tuckshop for the blast in his Type R...
I don't know what he's done to the set-up (he did tell me but I kinda nodded and pretended to understand! ), but it sure as hell works...
IMHO the best set-up Scooby I've driven, bloody quick too...
The best FUN car of the day for me, was Jase's Type R. It must be the most tail happy type R around!!
Absolutely stunning... I'll never forget the classic window grabby flich from the passenger seat the first time we went into the esses at about 45 degrees to the road
We got some fantastic footage for Duke, also from Jase's Type R including a sideways moment through the esses following a sideays stef in formation
Top day, I can't beleive I actually enjoyed driving on tarmac!
regards
Simon

Thanks, at least I got something right! (It's Redgate btw). Driving on slicks seems to bring a serious side out in me, which is probably not a bad thing! I really enjoy using the extra grip they provide, and you tend to have to drive a lot smoother to get the most from them.
I just couldn't resist putting my road tyres on though you know, just for old times sake!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Oh, and Mr Tuckshop's car should feel bloody well set-up....with £2,000 suspension!!!
Stef.

Well what can I say, what an absolutely storming day.
I was also very impressed with the handling.
Saw off GT3's 911's, Etc. no problem.
Thanks for that fine tuning tip with the rebound Simes, and thanks for the guys who commented on the 'Beta' version of the new Scooby Mania Twin dump full Stainless Steeel 3" exhaust,(We are gonna go with the slightly louder one).
You may be pleased to know Stef that although I had the competition DMS kit on they have just launched a road version which will be less money.
This clearly dispels the myth that the ALK can't/won't work with the type R.
Only held back now by tyres (need slicks) and engine power, (planning under way)
Great fun, unbeatable.
Mike.

Sorry I could`nt get there any earlier and stay any later but good to meet a couple of you guys.
Next time the Skyline and the revised geom P1 will attend.
Just watch out cos these days I`m more used to bikes than cars at Donington!

All,
(I apologise now, this is my first post)
I also went on Friday, am a part owner of the Nissan Sylvia which you may have passed when I was driving my laps. Takes some getting used to after driving the scoob!
Not sure about the organisation on the day, seemed a long 40 minutes between sessions!
Had a good day though next time I'll bring my WRX my96.
Andy

Evenin' all!
Just got back from Donno Spent the weekend with my girly in Tunbridge Wells after a SUPERB day at Donnington.
I haven't seent so many awesome cars in one place, bar the Motor Show. Venturi (black), 3 Porsche GT3's, The NUTTER in the Westfield and a Challenge 355.
And of course all you lot! Great to see evryone, Harj, Stef, Chrisp, Pete, Rob, Jase, John, Dave, Peter, Jay, Mark, Kevin and Mike.
Many thanks for Mark of Tyres Northampton for fitting by new Brembo discs and thanks for Mike for bringing them! Also thanks to Dave, Mike, John and Peter for some laps, which i really enjoyed. Mike's car is handling so well it's untrue! Dave's P1 was so smooth and John's Westie was bloody mad - nothing new there then!
Nice to see Pete C up from Essex and I must find out who Ian W is next time having spoken to him on the phone! Good to meet Simon de Sideways as well and put a face to some text!
Until next time!!!!!!
