Default MY05 PPP - Why the remap ?

As I understand it the PPP for the MY05's was delayed for a short while due to being remapped, although they are coming through now..

Question is though I thought there were no engine changes from 04-05 so why do they need different software ?

Just a thought - I'm sure there's a very simple explanation that will make me look like a complete noob

Doh - just seen this in another post from Mike Wood further down..(talking about MY05 changes on WRX) <edit>

'There are loads of minor changes that make quite a difference. The obvious changes are to the interior but there are significant suspension changes with the adoption of STi type inverted monotube dampers and an alloy rear suspension link. The engine is also very slightly changed but the numbers are the same (hence a slightly revised PPP).

The biggest change of all is that the brake calipers are red so the brakes must be lots better.......

Mike'

So what are the engine changes - anyone know ? - I just like to know these things

Progress I expect ........ trying to iron out any bad spots in the previous map and come up with something better.

'05 has VVT on Exhaust where -'04 didn't (assuming it's sti we're talking about)

Talking

it will be different map as prodrive are obviously fine tuning their ppp for a slightly different egine spec,,i think the sti map is on version 10+ so i presume the wrx will have upped it's game -likely a detuned wr1 map where possible-the 05 ppp i drove was very smooth but went very well!

That's certainly true of the JDM car, but I thought the UK STI had pretty much the same Euro-spec engine it's had since '02?

So with the evolution of Prodrive progress = enhanced map would it not be better to use the new map on an 04 if I was to have a PPP fitted in the future??

05 My Engine Ecm modified to cater for EOBD requirements and the sharing of
system protocol which should accomodate non Subaru specific diagnostic tools apparantly the vehicle must now also record distance travelled within the Ecm subsequent to a trouble code causing the MIL to illuminate .The Ecm is also updated for new diagnostic codes .There is also a slight change to the inlet manifold on 05 MY
