Default Speed cameras at night

I know rear-facing cameras with flash like GATSOS work at night but do any mobile cameras also work at night? I suspect not as they all tend to be forward facing and therefore can't use flash. Does anyone know for sure?

Perhaps they use infa-red film similar to a Truvello forward facing fixed camera? The infa-red flash is barely visible.

Hi Simon

pop to http://www.pepipoo.com/ and check the comments on truvelo cameras. There have been numerous comments on how bright the magenta flash is. It can be blinding to the driver caught.

I wasnt aware of that Andy; Id heard that they are barely visible in daylight. I havent looked at pepipoo for a good while so I'll have a read.

Mobile cameras can get you at night, maybe not read your reg plate but a few hundred yards down the road will be a couple of friendly police cars waiting to pounce and i can tell you that the van with the detector on wont always be a police van.anyone who drives down canal road in Bradford will be aware...sorry lads but technology wont be put of by a little bit of darkness....powerman

No m8, believe me once youve been caught (36mph in a 30 zone..£60 and three points)its amazing how you take an interest in these things and you tend to watch out for the latest money grabbing cameras that are out there. If you go on the web and search for speed cameras you will get a list as long as your arm, just search for your area and it will give you the days mon to fri and where they might be at any given time at their discretion, but it never mentions Sat or Sun but they do operate these days, another money making ploy...just keep your eyes open and you will be amazed whats out there.....
