Question Windscreen Repair- Advice needed

Noticed today I've got a cracked windscreen, runs from base vertically for about 10cms. Does anyone know if this can be repaired or will it be a new screen?(MOT due next week)

Sounds like a replacement needed. Give your insurance company a call, normally they'll tell you to get a mobile service out to replace the screen and you just pay them the excess - £50 or so. It doesn't usually count as a claim against you.

Deffo... BUT my advice would be not to have it done mobile. Take the car in you will get a better job as currently due to the temps the mobile bonding has problems curing.

Question

Depends how well you know the MoT station, I suppose: BOOK it for a new screen, and tell them it'll be done on such and such a date, or just let the MoT lapse for a few days and cross your fingers.

Alcazar

Editted to say: IIRC, it's not an MoT fail if the crack is not in the driver's line of site?

When you go for windscreen ask for genuine subaru parts plus new top trimas they can be a pain to fit and some other makes are mishaped and you get wind noise on classics anyway.

Any crack that's bigger than 40mm in the swept area will fail an MOT
