i was wondering if anyone knew if the afterburner vortex back box would pass the mot and weather it was legal or too noisey

Got one on me bugly + the centre pipe and its fine !

 

Ithink officially theyre too noisey but who checks db of an exhaust at an mot,none that i know of !!

If you are having just the back box it will pass the MOT and it is perfectly legal as regards db and everything else. As to whether it's noisey depends on taste.

I have one on mine along with a full decat. It's loud, but i have no idea what db it booms out at....probably above the legal limit, but have never had any problems. If you do go down the full decat route then you will have problems passing the emission tests....so i keep my standard subaru supplied centre section which has a cat in for putting in at MOT time.

If you just have the back box it will not be as loud.

A very fine exhaust system in my opinion.

 

thanks for your replys just called my insurance and its going to cost £123 on top which seems a bit steep did anyone else get charged this much?

Usually increases your quote by about %10 , cost me an extra £50 so not to bad

 

...try insuring with Liverpool and victoria next time if your over 30.
I can do whatever i like to the car except change its cubic capacity.

 

I tried l & v but they told me no mods and i`m 40, praps i`m to old

 

...that's strange. I'm 40 and i insured with L & V last June.
£600 fully comp , plus one other named driver over 30 yrs old on a MY00 full decat and Tek3.
Didn't want to know about any of the above mods...only had to tell them if i increased the engine cubic capacity.
