just been having a general discussion with a few m8s, about what kind of bhp gains i would see from and induction kit and an exhaust system on my MY00 turbo(215).
and there are alot of mixed opinions, so could any of you more experianced (i.e not thick like me) scooby owners help us out please???
thanx in advance JAY

I'm prolly just as thick as you,but your car will certainly benefit in a change of exhaust.Particularly the down pipe.
Maybe good for an extra 15+bhp,but its in the throttle response where you will certainly notice a massive improvement.
...not getting involved with the filter debate![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)

Im also interested in the gains from a magnex full decat exhaust, its already got the magnex decat downpipe , K&n panel and remap (270bhp). Someone stated that 270 was about the max from the standard turbo, if so is their any point fitting it.

Of course there is the point you will gain say between 20+30 bhp but more importantly you will gain a more free reving and quicker reacting beast, without doubt the most worthwhile mod there is to do

OK. I would say each car is different, but can give you some actual figures :
on my MY98 Wagon, std 208 BHP as quoted. Fitted with H&S decat downpipe, PPP decat centre and PPP back box and nothing else, gave 236.8 BHP on G-Force's rollers.
A friends MY99 RB5, std 215 BHP, fitted with std downpipe, decat centre and back box, and induction kit, gave 265 BHP on PE's rollers.
In both cases neither car was ever run in standard trim so can't say what the "before" figure was.
I can also say that there is abig noticable difference with the decat downpipe. I fitted my stuff in the order PPP back box, then decat centre, then downpipe. In each case there was a few weeks at least in between each change as I was getting parts second hane from SN/SIDC. Didn't really notice much performance difference from the centre and back box, although it did rev a little more keenly but still choked up a little at higher revs. Fitting decat d/pipe made the turbo spool up quicker (about 500rpm earlier) and it pulled much keener accress the rev range right to the red line.

Having the rest of the system fitted tomorrow and a quick blast on the rollers to check boost and fueling, ill let you know what the end bhp is. Anyone like to make a guess just for the fun of it.

Was replying to the poster. Just a small counterpoint to the exciting power figures for minimal mods that many quote. On the same rollers, 255 BHP with an exhaust and remap is typical.
I would suggest up to 10% for the exhaust and similar again for the remap.

Had it done today, cant seem to feel much difference to be honest but apparently its now running 293 bhp. Seems a bit flat at times when I floor it and then other times it feels like a rocket (when out on the same drive , it behaved like this before the full system), seems to depend on how far up the revs I floor it, if I floor it below 4000 it doesnt seem to ever reach the same kind of pull as if I floor it above 4500. Is this normal, I thought once it reached 4500 from being floored at say 3000 it would pull the same. Does sound luvvverly though.
