Hi Guys
I am just in the process of buying a 1995 Subaru Impreza.
The place I am buying it from are saying its a type STI RA jap import.
For it to be a type STI RA does it have to have the roof vent in it?
As this one does'nt !
Been new to Impreza's I just want to make sure I aint getting ripped off.
Any help you can give me would be great.
Cheers.

AFAIK only the V-limited versions had roof vents
To be sure check the model code http://www.sidc.co.uk/faq.htm#2.1

Chech the applied model numbers; either GC8C47D ((very rare) similar number to the production RA; look for alloy front suspension; fifth injector build plate etc) for the altered production V1 or GC8C4DD for the full production V2

All STi Ra's have the roof vent, it's the easiest way to spot one.
There all white with black door handles and mirrors. Unless it's a V-Limited and then it'll be blue.
Most importantly if it's a true STi Ra, it'll have the DCCD, electronic centre diff control next to the handbrake and the coresponding section on the instrument panel (right in the centre).

It certainly is. I think that there were one thousand of the original modified production STI (1)'s. I looked in Japanese auctions where there were hundreds of Imprezas every week and whilst Ive seen probably 100 STI 1's I havent ever seen an original STI Type RA; of course this could be because the AMN (GF8C47D) is similar to a production RA, but the assessors are very experienced and they dont usually miss a trick.
