Can any body help?

Im rather pi***d off today, last week i did a deal with a guy in Scotland to swap my crystal headlights for his morettes, i posted them special delivery last thursday so due to english and scottish bank holidays he received them today -wednesday,

He called me to let me know hed got them, BUT!!! one of them was smashed to bits and the box was damaged, id used heaps of packing and i thought there was no way of them getting damaged,

I called royal mail and they asked me the value to replace the items, I gave them a figure, and they said as long as i can prove they was packaged well i will get compensated, so now the headlights/packaging are on the way freepost to Royal mail customer services, in manchester,

They seemed pretty helpful, but just wondering -if i have a claim,how long does it take them to settle? as im now in need of a set of headlamps

As im a bit of an ebay junkie Im always having to claim for damages through royal mail , they are pretty good at claims if its a special delivery item (wish they were as good at getting it to you in one piece), last one i claimed for was resolved within a week. Just keep ringing them and explain the situation. I would say you'll definately get you money for the damage so why not just replace the lights from your own pocket and wait for the cheque, either way your gonna have to buy some new ones.
