Default General Classic Wagon Question

Just wondering exactly how difficult it is to remove the roof rails on a MY98 Classic Wagon?!

Will there be holes underneath them that would need welded/filled..... or will they just come away easily??

Cheers,
Grant

Wagons look better with rails; that said; I believe that the mounting points are covered with a blank.

Default They are for high speed stability....

These roof rails are there as an aerodynamic aid.
These Wagons are so fast that they help keep the car in a straight line at high speed, remove them and you will lose control....

only joking, leave them on, a Wagon is not complete without them.

Just wanted to make it look slightly different to other wagons out there... I saw a pic of a silver wagon which IIRC was in Croatia or similar place and it looked pretty good I thought.

Oh, and I dont have enough friends to need a roof-box or to carry 5 bikes, so they'll never be used!!

Grant

I seem to recall you need to take all the lining off the roof to get at the fixings for the rails.

That took a bit of figuring out, but it is late in my defence!!
I didn't quite have to sell the house to get the car!

i went the other way and fitted rails..

its not such a simple option..

to remove them, uou need to drop the roof lining. (royal pain in the ***)

you need to remove all the styling strips from windscreen to boot!!

you need to unbolt the rails and remove. you need to rplace the blanking plates.

you then need to purchase some full lenght blanking / styling strips.

allow about 3 hrs!!!

the blanking plates are on the boittom of the rails if my memory serves me correctly..

hovevere you need to purchase new inserts, as your old ones are in 3 bits as opposed to one piece..
