Optimax / BP Ultimate test vs standard
All,
You may be interested to know that RIDE - the motorbike magazine just conducted a test to see if you get better power and mpg from using Optimax or BP Ultimate vs standard 95 ron fuel.
The test concluded that you did - between 1-2% more power and with slightly improved mpg.
So its been proven worthwhile paying that extra money after-all.
Full review in the latest RIDE mag.

in which case this is slightly relivant:
whilst in Sainsburys the other day i over heard someone behind the till talking about phoning BP.
seizing the opportunity i butted in and asked if that is who supplies their fuel.
Yes was the answer, always.
so i for one believe them.
hense 1-2% better fuel 82.9ppl.
(p.s. does the review find any difference between optimax and ultimate?)

How it works is they stick the 'feedstock' fuel in a big tank at the refinery. When the tanker fills up they add the relevant additives for that delivery from a smaller tank - so a Shell refinery, for example, will delivery fuel sold as Shell, BP, Sainsbugs, Tesco, Total, Jet, Esso, ... BP's refineries will sell the same set of fuels, as will Essos, etc.
So it would appear the nearest refinery (or pipeline outlet) to your Sainsbugs is a BP one. I'm afraid we can infer nothing more than that.
