Default Miltek with PPP

I happened to follow a link from TSN to the Miltek site.

The link was stating 30% more power for the Sti.

Miltek are claiming that their Sti PPP Impreza has gained 30% more power by having their custom made exhaust fitted.

Now i may have got this completely wrong, but, it looks like they're saying that if you get your Sti PPP'd, then get the miltek fitted at some point afterwards it'll give you a further 90bhp!!

Now i know that this 90 is going to be complete bol*** but what i want to know is, does anybody have any experience of the miltek on a PPP'd motor and did it make any difference?

On my previous motor, the only part of the warranty that a non-genuine exhaust invalidated was the exhaust - which seeing as the Miltek's come with a lifetime guarantee, doesn't really matter!

If the Miltek can give a 8% power boost, then you're in the same sort of power banding as the TSL conversion.
OK, it'll cost you more money, but you get to keep the warranty intact - with the option of extending it to 5 years not just the standard 3.

Anybody?

you will not get those gains,if you use ppp map you may lose bhp as the map is set up for the prodrive exhaust only,if you remap and use full miltek exhaust the gains would be similar to tsl 333,ring tsl or ian litchfield to find out more.a change of exhaust invalidates your warranty!

I think what they are saying is that the exhaust may produce up to 30% more power on an STi Prodrive Style (ie 02MY STi with the big rear spoiler and front bumper) hoping that you assume that they mean an STi with a Prodrive Performance Package fitted. Either way it's misleading...

Changing any part of the exhaust will invalidate your warranty on the engine as it would be operating in a way it wasn't designed to do and in any case we've recently proved that changing the exhaust to a 'decat' on a WR1 actually reduced performance.

Tony

We didn't fit it, an owner did....

The point I'm making is that decatting the WR1 did exactly what we found ages ago, it lost some boost and hence performance compared to a PPP downpipe.

Thankyou Mike/Martin.

I figured as much but i thought i'd check it out with those that know!!

You can't seem to access the article on the EVO website - even as a registered user!

Had some fun reading the archive articles about the prodrive Sti's and the CSL vs GT3 vs Type 25 Spec C thingamejiggy!!

Mike,
you were making a very valid Piont to which some owners may not have been aware and I was being silly

On a simular note

I went out at Donny in a MY03STiPPP that had a induction kit fitted. It was far slower than than mine I ask the owner to put the Std Airbox back on, He did and later took me out a Castle Coombe, much, much better. He overtook me , mind you I was parked in the tyre wall LOL

Some 'Classic' owners in the Past have improved their Cars by doing Decat and Induction Mods, without any ECU changes. Maybe have now moved to the 'Newage' models. They maybe in the belief they can do the same and get simular improvements. As most Subaru Tuners know, it ain't as simple as that any more.

It's about Boost Spikes and Overboost protection onder2: IIRC

I seem to remember a lot of Boost spike threads when the first MY02STi's came out.
