Default Anyone get pulled over the festive Period

I did

New years eve around 5:30pm, for having my front fogs on. Got a producer and a 30 quid fine, oh hum..... Police said I was the 4th person they had stopped that evening and I was the 3rd Impreza out the 4.

Thats added to the goverment coffers then ain't it, why don't you go catch some real crimminals

What is this county coming too......

Do they have a light guage which decides when the weather is bad enough for you to have your fogs on? Not that i agree with people who have them on all the time but i would like to know on what they base the fine?

I don't normally have them on. But when went to work that morning it was foggy. The only indication on an MY02 is the green light on the fog button, which is obsured by the steering wheel and my hands when driving. Poor design really and no dash indication ......
£30 for a forgetting grips my ****

I have got time for the traffic guy's and feel they normally do a good if very tough job and more should replace the speed camera's - however to fine you for having front fogs on is just stupid IMO.
Stopping you and giving a quite word of advice on the rules / reasons etc. which could have been passed on via a forum such as this would have gone a long way.
Rear fogs at the wrong time yes but Can't say I have ever been dazzled by front fogs???

After an official complaint for harrassment (27 pulls, 5 rectification notices, 10 producers and 2 court cases [both thrown out!! ] in 6 months!!) I cant be pulled over in my locality unless I am being very stupid.

So a quiet festive period for me!!!!

Easy. Fog light can only legally be on when visibility is less than 100 metres (used to be 100 yards). Not hard to judge IMHO.

Still, seems a bit tight to issue points and a fine for front fogs instead of a warning. You weren't tonking it or driving badly in other ways, were you? I'm wondering if they got you for one thing because they couldn't prove you were doing something else?

Yep, got stopped twice.

Once in a drink drive check.

Once on a random stop in the middle of the night.

And the big pool of light in front of the car on the road, that you can't miss in the dark.

Cos you look like a fool driving round with them on and you deserve the fine to remind you to check next time IMHO

Are your lamps Driving Lamps or Fog Lamps?????? Surely if they are driving lamps, as per my conversation with plod some months ago when I got stopped they can't frigging touch you, as they are only an extension to your headlights anyway........

Still think they were a pair of tw@ts to do you, and it's about time they got there bl@@dy act together before anarchy takes over this whole country....

Interesting this one.
I have the standard front fog lights on my MY02. I asked them how the law stands on what the difference is between, fog and driving lamps. There response was that fog lights are not clear and driving lamps are, and also driving lamps have to be a certain height from the ground. Its all a bit iffy whiffy to me, I think they didn't have their quota for the day.

All being said they were very polite and not obnoxious like some of them can be. I just feel dissapointed, especially has there are so many cars out there with defective lights, at least all mine worked...

I thought driving lights could only come on with main beam, not dipped.

Front foglights are only meant to be used when visibility is seriously imparied, below 100m (328ft).

The difference between a Front Fog Light, and a driving light is that the front foglight is activated from a seperate switch and has a warning light, and a driving light is activated only with main beam, regardless of if a switch to override them is in place.

As for the original question, nope didn't get stopped at all over the Xmas period.

Wish they fined more people round here for having fog lights on, all the chav scum think they're great although what do you expect from a bunch of useless sad *****

Oh and they very often do dazzle, partly because there's very little focussing of the beam like headlights and also because they're never checked for alignment (normal lights have to be for MOT) so you can drive around for years with them pointing upwards, great eh?

I don't see why car manufacturer's don't fit driving lights, they are actually useful unlike fogs. Although it would probably result in all the chavs driving around with main beam on just so they can get the driving lights to come on....

Oh BTW I didn't get pulled

Agree - the reason CHAVS love em is it make their car look like a top of the range one and also, it is a cheap and easy mod you can get from Halfrauds.

Didn't get pulled as car had no road tax so not on the road (bought online from DVLA on 22nd December - took until the 5th to arrive )

Never got pulled for it, however if I did, my answer would be that they are driving lights, not fog lights.

Didn't get pulled at all.

Ref the fog light thing, no offence but i have no sympathy - unfortunaelty as you explained in your situation you were unlucky, admitably(sp?) i'm guilty sometimes of doing that but, if i was caught i would take the slap on the wrist as it comes. We all preach about people with fogs on in clear vision (IIRC its when visibility is less than 100m due to fog) and its about time the police started doing something about it. It's also not just the chavs - normal folk think its fine to do it also. I wish people would have a read through the highway code, they might also learn how to use motorway lanes correctly too, but thats another rant.

IMHO if you have your fogs on when not required i treat you as having driving lights on, which means you are on full beam - you then get flashed by my full beam as a reminder that you have left them on.

BTW, can you tell what my biggest gripe of other road user is

Chris (who doesnt have fogs on his Sti anyway)
