Default Can't see ****...

Have a MY01 WRX and find whenever I accidentally stray over 70 mph , I find the wipers skip and don't clear the screen. Even worse faster.

Any suggestions? Different blades, or do I need some different vent system?

Try a pair of PIAA Super Sporza Windscreen wipers,
these have a special feature which create down force
which makes them stick to the windscreen well, also
they distribute a silicon substance on to the screen
which prevents skidding across the screen. hope this
helps you out.

Its the governments way of stopping you speeding, they are going to roll these new wipers out on all new cars and make older car drivers pay a small fortune for them

You might find you have "generic" wiper blades fitted. I tried a few different sets from my local car accessory shop and found similar problems at speed (often below 70mph as well!). In the end, I returned them for a refund, and stumped up for the dealer supplied ones.

Looking at the differences, the generic ones had 3 spring/arms/whatever attaching the rubber blade to the wiper body itself, whereas the Subaru ones had 4. I think the Subaru ones coped a lot better with the changes in curvature of the window through the sweep of the wiper blade, and also permitted a more even pressure of the blade on the screen.

I've not tried the PIAA ones though.

I've just fitted some Bosch ones and they are a vast improvement over the OE stuff. Drivers side (22") has a spoiler but it does seem to help. Were OK in heavy rain at *cough*dred and 30ish the other day IIRC the 22S was about £15 and the 17 was £8ish from Halfrauds. Also worth giving the screen a good clean, then dry it off with scrunched up newspaper and clean thoroughly with meths to degrease it.

I have always used Bosch blades with a spoiler and had exactly the same problem as you. Then saw the blades on my dad's car and realised that I had fitted the blades upside down!!

The faster I went, the more lift was created and the worse the wipers were.... Might sound daft but worth checking out

Rain - X. Worth every penny.

I use it on my ol' hot rods on the motorways in pouring rain and they didn't have ANY wipers.

I love it. Its a pain to apply it properly, but oh so worth it.

Nige
No, I dont work for rain - x.

Had this on old legacy: wiper skip.

Tried...new wipers from PIAA, BOSCH and from Subaru (guess whose were most expensive)
New Windscreen
New Wiper Arm
Extra finny bits on the wiper

The best result I had was putting a bit of plastic FLAT on the back of the wiper so speed squashed it into the windscreen, and another bit of plastic along the back of the bonnet to create some turbulence in the air coming up the bonnet to the window.
