STi RA modifications query

I am not sure of the next thing to do to my 1996 STi RA - I have a performance exhaust + HKS induction kit fitted (not sure of make of exhaust).
Would a decatted downpipe be the next thing to do - or would this be in conflict with the engine management?

If you remove the up/down pipe cats you will risk boost spikes so you will need a re-map; not easy on an early car. It depends on your budget and what you wish to achieve; but Id look at removing all cats and fitting a single high flow sports cat in the centre of the car. You will have to bite the bullet and fit a new ECU or at last a piggy back. Apexi and Greddy come to mind but you could go for a full GEMS or Motec. Whether itd be worth this just do de-cat Im not sure; youd be better talking to someone who can supply and map the ECU.
Speed costs money; how fast can you afford to go?

Simon - thank you.
Andy - I have emailed Graham Goode racing (GGR) and asked them to clarify the points raised, as I have read a decat on an STi can cause "problems" - i.e. it is not a case of bolt on and go![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I had the decat done on my previous 1995 Triple 5 WRX with no problems, but you always have to be cautious and I am beginning to understand that the STi is quite a different animal to the WRX.
GGR will be delimiting and changing the speedo over to 180 mph one in February + fitting STi red/clear lights, so I thought I would ask a few questions on Scoobynet before I take the plunge on the exhaust route.
Thanks both for your help.

Car is definately an Sti RA (rrok vent, correct chassis number/model number/DCCD/white paintwork etc etc) but no red/clear rear lenses.
Has anyone else come across this, as all of the Classic Imports I have owned (3) none have had the red/clear light clusters........?
Puzzling.
