I may be moving to a house without a garage or car parking area. There must be areas or garages that you can rent for a day or two, or even a few hours to do work on a car? Anybody got any ideas or tips? I am in the southwest btw.

Try finding a local Classic Car club. They will either have premises which you can rent (if it's for longer than a couple of days), or a member might have premises that you can use.
Try searching for the Practical Classics website as they have a listing of local clubs. Going along to a meeting and just asking may produce some answers from the locals.
Other similar local car clubs may have facilities. Ask the local newspaper or Information Office what clubs there are in your area and go along to meetings until you get what you want.
