Blacked out windows?
#1
hi all
Has anyone ever blacked out the rear windows on a 5-Door? ... I have a MY00 and a dog!! hence the desire to black out the rear window and both rear quarterlights - to keep it cool and for security ... it may also look good but my search threw up everyone wanting to remove them from WRx's??? so .... anyone done it?

Find someone who wants rid of it in a 5 dr and offer to swap the glass
I am thinking of removing mine from a 4dr but am worried about making a mess so probably won't.
Cheaper to buy some stick up sun blinds.

Can't comment on adding it as the WRX Wagon already came with it on. If you're going to do just the rear windscreen and quaterlights it might look a bit odd. On mine I've got the rear windscreen, quaterlights and rear windows tinted (or is that what you meant? it's too early for me )
It can scratch though, as I found when I tried to fit the dog guard, but under normal circumstances it's pretty tough.
Does look good though, especially as my Wagon is black, looks a total beast!
The only thing you might consider is doing the fronts in a lighter tint as well, I'm in two minds about this, on the one hand it would look quite good, but it looks too max powery/pimpmobiley at the moment, but hey, it's my choice and sod what others think!
Anyway, sorry I can't be of much help, hope your search goes well.
I can say that the blacked out should help pooch, our weimaraner is quite happy being shaded, does freak the public though when she barks at them as they can't see her, he he she's a good security device as well, though she'd probably just lick any theiving scum to death!

Thanks all - interesting about the scratching problem .... cant think that the mutt would scratch it ... she is a German Shepherd so is big and not able to jump at the windows. Good guard mind you as I have no barrier up - just let some thieving toe-rag try and nick the car when she is asleep!!! anyone want a pound of scum meat??
