Unhappy

My P1 has worryingly started to slightly stutter/miss . It does it about 6,000 and 7,500 rpm on full throttle. Boost appears to be normal at about 1 bar.

The car has hardly been driven up to yesterday for the past week and I noticed the problem today, although yesterday I wasn't on full throttle at all.

Was low on fuel yesterday and had a slight splutter when going round a tight left, but apart from this everything has appeared normal. Car has been run on 97 RON since new, having now covered 3,000 miles.

Any help on this would be much appreciated, as I'm due at PS 9.30 tomorrow for a go on the rollers .

Thanks

Russell

Please let me know what power you got.
My car doesnt like to be low on fuel.
If it is and you drive it hard round corners it cuts out completely due to fuel starvation and surge

I'll let you know tomorrow.

Get the stuttering with a full tank and also suffer from the starvation problem as you do when low.

Russell,

I'll be down in the morning too (dropping off my car for surgery).

No doubt R & D will find the problem. However, slightly worrying that the symptoms sound like fuel surge, but even of full tank ? We will see, but wouldn't panic yet.

Cheers

Ian

Question

In the general discussion about how accurate the fuel gauge is, the SIDC FAQ quotes from memory, when below the 'E' it stutters on left hand bends. That's all models, not just P1s.

Why it should do it when full, who knows? Can you bleed it like central heating?

Oh, and BTW don't call me miss!

the fuel surge problem is not related i just thought it may have affected something. Ian you may remeber I had a bit of a problem confirming the restrictor should have put back in the pipe between the t piece (from the actuator ?) and the intercooler.

Bob Rawle confirmed it had been replaced in the right place. I dont know why but I checked tonite if it was still in position and it seems to have vanished from the pipe !

Very strange, perhaps this is the problem ?

See you tomorrow.

As mentioned before this is NOT a P1 problem.
My old STI V used to suffer the same thing.

It put you off the first time it happens and ona track day is very sudden. You soon learn that STI's/P1's dont like less than 1/2 tank.
