Welcome TurboDel - you're from Cavweb, IIRC. I followed the same route - got sick and tired of looking at overpriced and dodgy vauxhall 4x4's. Got my Scooby a few months back. The day after a drove a cally turbo (which turned out to have a blown head gasket) drove a scooby and new where the future lay

One or two stories spring to mind....
The old 16v Astra GSi 2.0l cylinder head was prone to cracking, the calibra petrol tank was shaped in such a way so that it held water and rusted through (from the top) and the gates on the 6-speed box where so close you could (and a few people did) change from 6th to 2nd at high speed followed by a nasty grinding and crunching sound as the gearbox lunched itself. The less said about the Lotus Carlton the better.....
.... oh and an unladen rascal van could be persauded to tip up on it's nose if you braked hard enough....
It's amazing what you pick up if you dad was a field investigator for Vauxhall
I used to to drive nothing but vauxhalls but I fancy a scooby now..
