Default Car washes and high level spoilers

My 93 WRX got a high level spoiler, it is safe to put these through a car wash!?

Worried it'll rip it off

Lol, if it doesn't rip the spoiler off, it'll damage the paintwork. DON'T DO IT!!!

Brushes could be dirty, water is re-cycled (but not filtered properly)

Ever thought about washing it yourself? With todays soft paint I wouldn't dream of putting my car through one of those things! In 40 odd years of car ownership I have never used one, and don't intend to!

I would be too.

Most have a sensor in the centre which tells it to go upwards when approaching something. It gets to the spoiler (with a big gap) and thinks it is ok to move along crashing into the spoiler.

Seems to happen when it goes from the back to the front though.

Use a jetwash or do it by hand. Failing that leave it dirty!

Do you live in England...lol...

I have been wanting to wash my car for ages now, but every weekend it is pissing down with rain... , and work commitments stop me from washing it in the week...!!!

I havn't washed mine for about a month now, the stickers on the rear are starting to become invisable...???

But, in reply to the original question, i think i would go along with the others and say NO, wait until the weather is a little better and give it a good hand wash, it's meant to be nice this weekend apparently...???

Your next thread will be how to get the little scratches out of your paintwork which were put there by the car wash.

Yep! And the car is black! the worst colour of all for showing the dirt! May sound sad but I actually find washing the car theraputic!
Although I've never used them, the illegals down the road at the hand car wash would be a (slighty) better proposition?

Having worked for a car rental firm I know its possible to hand wash a car in most weathers.

As everyone has said DONOT take it thru a rotarty car wash.
If you cant get a chance to do it your self, most Tesco's Sainsburys ecty have car wash points these days, admitadly it cost more but saves you having to do it and you can do your weekly shop while you wait.

Persoanlly I think one of the best £110 I spent was on a Kracher jet wash from halfords, more than paid for it self with washing the car at least once a week

My cars black too...

My old man has a white car and he is always going on about how dirty it looks, then, he looks at mine and says, "well, maybe it's not too bad, look at yours"...

Dont go near it!!!
I use Autoglym resin polish followed by the High Gloss finish(before the winter sets in). This puts a semi-permanent coat on the paintwork. This means the dirt lifts off with a quick wash (even in bad whether!!!!).

NOT THIS AGAIN??

Wash it by hand or at worse, use a jet wash (checking the brush for foreign bodies first).

If you cant be arsed to wash your car by hand then pay someone else to do it rather than paying for a car wash!

You obviously dont give a toss about your car asking such a stupid question - take her in, she'll be fine!
