When accelerating in second or third sometimes she seems to be holding back just a bit!! like ive lost 20 bhp or something other times she dont do it! Ive taken into account different driving conditions. Any one else got this problem or am i imagining it !

MY00

thanks for help

You're not imagining it. There to protect transmission apparently though seems strange.

Next time it does it just lift the throttle slightly beforing reapplying or change up a gear and you'll be back to full boost.

Can't say as I've noticed this on mine, MY00.

However, I replied before to a similar thread where a guy, sounded expert, pointed out that the transmission of these cars was an accident waiting to happen. Maybe Subaru read it too!

I don't believe in the "flooring it" school of physics, that's gotta hurt, right? Be gentle with the girl and you'll find she goes a lot better.

Hey where have I heard that before?

Cool

you will find that the transmission isnt the imprezas strongest point. You may also find its quicker when you hold throttle for a while and gradually squeeze rather than flat out thru the gears.

The ECU apparently cuts back to stop too much torque being dumped thru the transmission

If i am incorrect i am sure someone will tell me

Yep, my 98 does exactly the same, seems to realise it's getting too much boost and cuts itself back. It is annoying, but I guess it's there for a reason!

Cool

Yeo I get it on my 98MY UK as well. Like Sunil says flooring it and fast changes esp. 2nd to 3rd it where I notice it most.

Seems to be around 5000-5500 rpm in second dropping into 4000-4500 in 3rd its like a half second delay before the power coming in again.

Its always done it only happens occasionally now as I know about it and squeeze the throttle rather than jump straight on it after a gear change.

cheers

my problems now got worse or ive got another!!

When in ANY gear it now is holding back big time between 3500-4500 rpm so I accelerate like crazy then for a split second stop accelerating so hard then im accelerating again, is this all part of the same problem or another problem!!!

thanks
