Default 'Nemesis' Cars

On your way to and from work do you encounter drivers who you regard as your 'Nemesis'. E.g You know that if you get behind that certain red metro they'll dither around, keeping you behind them for miles, or maybe it's a certain Vectra who will insist on tailgating you all the way to the office.

It also works the other way round. For example, you accidentally cut someone up, brake too hard etc etc and the driver in the car behind beeps you. You then find yourself being followed by above driver until they pull into the same car park as yourself.

Just wondering if it was me who finds themselves encountering 'Nemesis' cars on a regular basis.

No, me too Neil

Every early turn on the way in I always get stuck behind the same green Nissan Micra, being driven by an old man with his flat cap on and two dogs in the back.

Normally overtake him on the same stretch of road between two villages.

If anyone can keep up to tailgate on the way in for an early turn then good luck to them

mine's bmw black 323 who thinks he can outgun every car on the road. Drives appalingly with no regard for other road users (I think his indicators are broken!!!). As he is a regular most people get out of his way as he is a definate accident waiting to happen!!!!!

Funnily enough, none of my 'Nemesis' cars are BMW's.

I have two... I think they're mates as well... one drives a w@nky Series 1 RST and the other has a 1.6 Focus Zetec with gay exhaust, both went for the extra option of baseball caps perched on the back of their heads (and usually 4 or 5 chav mates!!! LOL) They both have learnt to drive within 2 inches of my back bumper every time they drive behind... needless to say I just let them "race" past. I live in hope that the next time one of them over takes me (or anyone else for that matter) in a 30 zone doing 50, they get zapped by local plod!! Either that or one/both of them pull in to the same petrol station at the same time Im there

Black Volvo T5 that insists on racing me pretty much every morning.
Morning 1 I let him overtake so I could be sure it wasn't police, then mornings 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 etc I destroy him, and every morning he comes back for more (maybe he thinks that every 24hrs that passes he will find more bhp under his bonnet !)

I have a 996 Turbo by the way, but still he tries

A fookin focus st170 driven by some total w@nker (you know who you are - A14). I have a "slight" power advantage, but he doesn't let that worry him and the pr!ck just tries more and more stupid manouvres to "win" - the sad thing is I end up driving like a tw@t sometimes just to keep him behind.

Every early shift it is a Green lorry delivering Eggs around the North East, the t@sser thinks that his precious cargo gives him the divine right to travel at no more than 30mph wherever he is including on the A1.

True Nemesis car though is any silver ford focus, every near miss seems to involve a silver focus normally being driven by women (not that that is a slur against women you understand!)

3 out of 5 mornings the same red Metro on the same stretch, dodders, dithers and crawls along the road infront me. Then there is the suicidal silver Rover Street Wise (WTF are these supposed to be, and why do people buy them!!??) that turns off just before the point i over take the metro, he's either stuck to my **** or taking bends on 2 wheels, or both !

I think mabe i am someones Nemesis!!

I drive my ****ty Escrot to work to avoid door dings on the scooby and the same ford Cougar V6 is on my bit of road, he cant drive for toffee and slows my progress right down, but has enough poke to keep my 1.3 pushrod behind him, i've had to re do the tappets twice both after the only two times i managed to get a run at him and carry more speed out of a bend, he probably thinks i'm a ****! its funny harassing some fool who thinks they can hold you up because their car is better than yours!

I actually stopped leaving the house at the same time to avoid the tool in the ST170 I met every morning - back when I had my Cooper S. He'd drive a baw hair away from my rear and I just felt compelled to skim the kerb and centre of the road for debris, gravel and stones to through up at him (a trick learned on a 'defensive driving course' !!!). Anyhoo, haven't seen him since I switched to a MY05WRX... which is a pity.

Not that I'd race him, but driving slowly in the WRX does require self control!

I catch the train most days now, but when I used to drive into manchester I regularly was cut up by:

A black Lexus IS200 with M3 *** plate - did he think it was an M3? Always drove like a prat \ took the wrong lane hoping to jump traffic - he never got past this skoda when he tried that trick on me

Black Saab something, demonstrator of Saab Manchester - guy would always go from sliproad to third lane in one manouver, narrowly missing others. Sometimes me, sometimes I'd see him do it to others, never with indicators or a glance. Only once he got a dose of main beam and horn, most mornings I'd just drop back whenever I saw him, was not worth it.

(oh, and then there is a nemesis I do want to meet... a black Octavia RS often seen on one of my fave roads, but always seems to be going the other way. Once saw a silver scoob clearly enjoying himself in opp direction, few moments later this RS came over in pursuit - good lad )

actually gave up trying to get into work early coz of the same couple of wankdogs i get stuck behind, which makes me arrive at work the same time as if i left my home a couple of mins later (if that makes sense)

literally get stuck behind them as soon as i turn out my road and follow them onto the same estate where i work only one dodgy overtaking bend which is on a blind sweep (but if you look over the fields it's next to you, can see anything on coming) but that's a bit naughty and i'm gonna get royally fcuked if the coppers see me pulling that one

also stick to the speed limits to the ******* exact mphwhen there's no lighting (50 mph) but will happily do over 50mph in a 30 just because it's got street lights so they can see where they're going
it's not like they don't know the bloody way FFS!!!!

stirred up a bit of anger there neil, gonna go and put on some whale music now and chill out

*rant over, and relax, deep breaths, calm thoughts*

Any German car with a German driver!!!!!!!! they are ALL crap drivers. Which is hard to understand considering their driving test is harder than ours, they do motorway driving and they have to learn with an instructor so they can't learn bad habits from their mates. However they are taught to be aggressive and use their right of way no matter what the consequences are. A german may cause an accident or gett killed but at least they had right of way when the did it.

Mine is anybody on the B-road back to my house from work that insists on doing dead on 30mph on a 60mph road with a row of 6 or 7 cars trundling behind him. If I am one of the first cars in the que I will blast past him at the overtaking points but anywhere past third in the que I have to just sit there unless the cars infront give me enough space to fit infront of them.

This is one the things that really winds me up - nobody in front wants to overtake but they're all quite happy to tailgate each other which screws anybody who does

Not sure this counts but mine could be a Bus

Driving on my work route one sunday i came to a big island and pulled up along side a bus.
On the island three lanes become two and i am in the inside lane which dissappears after a couple of hundred yards only being in that lane because
Iknew i would easily out pace the bus and had plenty of time to filter in front of him.
The lights change and i make more than sufficient progress to pull in before his 10 ton tank has even got off the mark so i settle down to the legal limit and approach the next set of lights at the back of a qeue turning left not giving a second thought to the bus.
Next thing i know this bus is in the outside lane and has stopped along side me well short of the lights and opens his door so i drop my window thinking the nice bus driver is going to tell me i have got a rear light out or something only to meet with a stream of abuse and hand gestures about endangering lives (on his empty bus ).
We exchange expletives for a couple of seconds and the lights change.

I even went back to check there was no solid line to prevent me lane changing and found nothing illegal or dangerous about what i had done and at no time was the bus remotley in danger of having to brake swerve or lane change to avoid me.

Still looking for the w6nker on the way to work and keep a wary eye out for buses pulling out suddenly (or is that just ALL of them) on me

Yeah, I know the kind of driver. When I was learning to drive, my instructor gave me a few wise words that he'd got from the "Bluffer guide to driving":

"He was right, dead right as he drove along, but he's just as dead as if he'd been wrong".
