Unhappy MY00 Pulls to the left + dodgy steering

Im in the 3rd month of owning my 1st Impreza Turbo MY00 (classic) and wondered if anyone could tell me what might be wrong with it. The steering pulls to the left at any speed, also at very low speeds the steering seems very sensitive/jumpy to any small bumps and white road lines (feels crap is the technical term I think!) The tracking is spot on, the tyres are Pirelli's and are very recent, the brakes are fine no sticking, is it the Geometry or something else? Its under warranty from "The Car Shop" Northampton who use Autocentres to do the work thou I don't fancy taking it to them, probably use a local Suburu dealer, any idea of costs? Any help would be cool, sorry if this is a question asked all the time on here!

Tracking might be OK but what you really need is a full 3D laser geometry setup (from £45 to around £100 depending where you go) as this also measures, camber, castor, wheel set back etc which could cause some of the symptoms if they are out. Would suggest this is the best first step in diagnosing. Scoobs seem pretty sensitive to even minor discrepancies in alignment setup.

Also faulty tyres although less likely (even when new) can cause some pretty odd handling characteristics.

Hope this helps.

As above. 3D laser geometry setup is the way forward. I personally have it done once a year

I had this on my 05STI as soon as I picked it up from the dealer from new.

Found out that they had under inflated the front tyres by 5psi !!

Increased the pressure to the correct level and now everything feels fine.

Ha ha ha, glad I'm not the only one. I recently thought my car (alas a Pug 206 - but it'll be a Scoobs in March ) had some issues with steering only to discover it was the pressure in the tyres. Certainly a good (and cheap) first check to make!

Ta for the replies. I have'nt hit any potholes thou can't say whether the previous owner did, the wheels are all round no dents. I'll check the air pressure, think its 33psi for Pirelli's, thou be surprised if that cures it. Anyone used Westaways Garage in Northants are they a good garage? Or any recommended Garages in Northants for Impreza work? Thanks

I too have had the fast road geometry setup done at TSL about 8 months ago and it completely transformed the handling of the car.

I'm interested to know if your car will brake in a straight line from high speed to zero with hard braking? Or does it pull to the left. If it pulls, it's definately the geometry.

I currently have the same situation on my 03 STi. Can anyone suggest a good garage in the south cheshire North Staffordshire area for geometry set-up?
