Default S U B A R U boot lettering - HELP

Need some help please….

I am looking to re-stick the S U B A R U lettering to the rear of the car but I need some measurements to make sure I get it in the right place. Would someone be kind enough to measure the lettering (spacing between the letters, overall length of the letters and the distance from the edge of the boot, side and below). Its a Classic Saloon Impreza btw

Also any ideas what the best thing to use to stick them with ? I have double sided tape just not sure how good this will be ?

Thanks in advance J

If you buy a replacment set from a dealer, I believe they come on a strip that is correctly spaced already.

Might be safer to go for that option, as even a mm or two out would potentially look poor.

I assume by your request that you have individual letters, and not on a strip,
if you still want to use these,i would look for another scooby local to you and
ask them can you take a pencil rubbing on tracing paper, then you will have exact spacing, cut out the lettering and then masking tape to boot, job done.

IIRC it's about £60 from a dealer.

Wink S U B A R U

OK: on a classic the letter are 120mm from the bottom of the boot lid to the base of the letters

The "S" and the "U" are each 204mm from the boot lid edge and, since the outer edge is a slight curve around the lights, I measured this at a height of 120 mm too.

The letters are equally spaced: distance from rh edge of one to lh edge of next being 24mm.

I'd be inclined to pencil guidelines on the boot with a soft (2B) pencil to help you, or stick masking tape for the lower edge, and mark on it where each letter goes.

YOU MUST GET THE LOWER EDGE LEVEL, or it'll look like a pig's ear.

As far as sticking them goes, are they clean now? You could try d/s tape or d/s sticky pads for numberplates. I'd peal ONE side of the tape off, stick the letter to it, place it face up on a piece of melamine, mdf etc, something smooth, and carefully cut around the tape with a VERY SHARP, AND POINTED craft bade, NOT a Stanley knife.

Then peal off the remaining cover and stick it in place.

If I were doing this, i'd expect it to take a good hour! And clean and dry the bootlid before sticking stuff to it.

Hope this is of help.

when i used to work as a delivery driver for vauxhall i regularly went into a bodyshop where they were doing the same procedure....they got it wrong about 3 times! first off they put them right at the bottom of the tailgate, then got them wonky.

I can tell you that your best off without it, i didnt really notice that my JDM STi didnt have it on the rear, and tbh, it looks a bit tacky with it on, rather 70's if you know what i mean.
