but if u go direct to japan like i do u dont have their fees to pay.
so they will make money from you.
i tried this route before so now i go direct to the japan agent, missing out the uk agent fees and thier hidden fees.

Do you travel to Japan or do you do business through phone, email etc.?
Which agents in Japan would you recommend?
Cheers!

hi but these are the only the price the cars start at in the auctions. they normally go for more than that. but then youve got your agents fees to pay there also the jap deregistration fees. then on top of that you've got to pay shipping costs, which i think is about £430ish pounds. when the car arrives you have to pay customs on the value of the car at 10% then on the whole price plus cutoms and shipping you've got to pay 17.5% vat. once youve done that then youve got to pay customs clearence and port handling at a total of £100 ish.
you can then go and pick the car up but then youve got to book the car in for and sva test, if its registered before 1997 then you don't need a model report. but you've got to put the car back to standard or else it'll fail. here youve got conversion costs of the car aswell to add on top(these are mph converter, rear foglight, new tyres if not got ratings on, fuel nossle thingy for unleaded fuel) if the car is registered after 1 jan 1997 then the car will have to have an esva test with a model report and you've got to make sure that there is one available for the car. you've got to pay to hire these out i think for a scooby its £350 and youve got the cost of the sva test of £170. finally you've got to pay dvla £30 for first registration of the car. but if your car is more than 10 years old then yopu don't need an sva test.
so its not that cheaper to get a car from there and its a hell of a lot of trouble and takes alot of time. hope that helps.

TM Imports? More fool you. Looked at their site again; their fees are nonsense; sales tax @ 5% is refundable for a start and the prices in the original post are fanciful.

FYI: the REAL average price of a 2003 / 2004 GDB STI at auction is at least ¥2,300,000 which is just short of £11,800 and thats in the auction car park; £6,000 my ****!

i have my own agent so i just view auctions and he inspects them for me had about 16 cars never any problems with mine.
this is my web page but has not been updated www.jm-imports.co.uk
mods i have not come on here to sell any cars just to give members advice.
try autosquare and uss auctions, also try 4wheelers japan i just get my agent as he is independent to check the car i want and that way i keep my costs down.
