Nurburgring
Have many of you guys ventured to the Nurburgring before? I've heard that you can just turn up any day, pay at the entrance and take your car for a few laps. Is this true?
What's the best way to get there from the UK? Which Channel crossing is best and which is the best route to keep mileage down on the Scoob?
I bet autobahns are fun as well.

i went with cgti last year in my golf vr6...sadly it died on the second lap
you can turn up and do as many laps as you want...but only when its open.
it is a dangerous place tho....read through this site - http://www.nurburgring.org.uk before even considering going. pay particular attention to the safety bit.

I went over with Tavia about 18 months ago and we went via the tunnel and then drove through Belgium and on into Germany.
The Autobahns aren't all they are cracked up to be in my opinion in terms of what you can do legally because most of them have a limit and there are few de-restricted areas on the way down to Nurburg. On the Autobahns you will have loads of BWM's trying it on and you can have a play with them though.
You have to be slightly careful when you turn up I believe because the circuit can be shut because people like BMW/Porsche etc hire the who place for the day/hour etc. The day we turned up there we had to wait an hour or so for the track to open.
The place is truely daunting, on my second day there after 10 laps as a passenger I was ready to comfortably drive a lap, this was done in a car that I'd never driven before and possibly one of the most awesome tracks in the entire world. After that first lap my brain was mush I think I kept my helmet on for about 5 minutes while I just sat there That evening over dinner I was running it over in my brain and it was amazing The next day I drove another lap and that was much easier mentally.
Once you go though you will want to go back again!! I was really looking forward to returning last year but the trip fell through and I doubt I'll get over there this year with getting married in only a few months Looks like next summer though I think the best way to do it is to fly over there on easyjet and get a hire car.
One thing to be aware of is the cost of the armco if you hit any It's around £200 per length (can't remember the length) and about 3 lengths high The marshalls will hunt you down if you leave the scene!!

Fantastic place. Love it to bits. Don't go if you're allergic to adrenaline, or have loose bowels.
I'm also getting married this year, so guess where my "stag do" will be? Of course, it will be a uniquely alcohol-free stag do, as I can't afford a wedding and 120m of Armco.

I just downloaded a clip of the RUF Porsche vs Gran Turismo 4 - side by side. It looks like its going to be an amazing game and it gives a really good impression of the circuit without the need to pay for expensive armco if all goes wrong.

Cracking place - totally unique. Scares the crap out of me, but I still love it There are some serious Ringers on here - I'm sure they will surface soon
Have a look at Ben Lovejoy's excellent website for more info.

I have to agree the place is GREAT, if you could "bottle it" it would outsell "Cola"

Cheers for the offer mate. We have a fair few of our own vids to put on before we start looking elsewhere.
Its quite time consuming so I will decline for now, but that doesn't mean we wont use it later on, if thats ok with you.
More vids going on as I type.

Find out what events are going on. Some weekends are full of "max power" cars. Crash's will be frequent on those days (Hence circuit down time whilst recovery is going on) Be sure to check out whats happening before going.
A louder cough for northloop Enjoy

Have another look on our site if you havent done so since last night. Couple more vids on there now including an AWESOME csl lap. My personal favourite I think .,....just listen to it going through the cones ...mmmmmmmmmm
I advise right click save as .....if it falls over then top right and close the box, then re-start it again. Takes a bit of patience but believe me its worth it.

The best way to get them to download is right click save as ....... when it gives up close the box and right click again. It takes a couple of goes but you will get it in the end.
We are still looking into why its happening.
