Ok guys... honest opinions please...

New Crystal Grey WRX...

I have plenty of stuff from the Autoglym range in my garage... but I am feeling very much drawn towards Swissol!!!

Am I going to see/notice a huge difference for spending £115 on the Swissol kit with Samurai wax or am I better saving my money and sticking with the Autoglym?

i have sum trade stuff called "showroom shine" which i get from astral checmicals in 5 litre tins, i have stopped useing meguirs to use this new stuff

i have never used swissol but it looks liek its far superior to autoglym
i have a autoglym gift pack sitting in my room thats never been opend lol

This is an age old arguement on here, there's always threads going on about which wax to use.

Personally i think that the Swissol kit with Samurai wax is a lot better than the Autoglym products.

I use AutoGlym on my Scooby. Happy with the results. I haven't tried Swissol yet, but will give it a go for comparisons sake. I certainly don't think its fair to describe Autoglym products as "not much good" even if it transpires that Swissol is superior, my car always looks bright, shiny and clean and -in my experience- AutoGlym products don't smear or leave any unsightly residue and are easy enough to apply.

autoglym isn't bad....but swissol is in another league (my mate uses it)

i use zymol (better than any other IMO except for swissol) from halfords though as i can't afford swissol. i then use autoglym bumper and window stuff. comes up quite nice i think (abviously the finish is dependent on who's applying the stuff as well)....excuse the fact its not a scoob....

yes but you can get £1.85 demon wax from car plan which makes a car look good and shiney, it doesnt mean its any good

i have not used swissol myself, but in the 10 years i have been cleaning cars ive used pretty much everything else out there

meguirs gold class takes quite a bit of beating IMO

That photo has just convinced me... should be able to get Crystal Grey to look like a mirror if that's what it can do to a dark colour!!!!!

How much work involved in the polishing and do I break out my 12v orbital polisher or get prepared for aching arms!!!????

but you can prep a bonnet and do half with one and half with another and see visible results of differing qualitys

This was after a quick rinse before/dry before i put the car into the bodyshop to have my front splitter painted (I was also playing with my new camera at the time)

I use Autoglym all the way, I actually dont use much at all, but i agree with *****, a lot of the finish is down to the preperation before the polish/wax.

I used autoglym and mer product for years - then I bought a WRC blue Impreza. I spent hours polishing with autoglym and the used the gold liquid sealer. I must admit the car was vey shiney but it looked as if I'd polished it off with wet and dry.

I bought a Swissol kit from www.performanceparts4u.co.uk and followed the instructions - the result 'Superb'

I have since come across another product called P21S - its cheaper but I don't know how it performs

Buy the Swissol and try it - you won't look back

Thanks for your help everyone.... the comments and especially the pics did it in double quick time!!!!!

Just ordered an entry level kit with samurai wax, Paint rubber with quick finish and some autobahn wheel wax already got a good quality silicone blade.

I'll post some piccies when the weather gives me enough time to do her properly!!!!

Untill then I'll just keep washing her weekly and using Turtlewax "wax it wet" which at least puts something between the paint and crap at this time of year.....

Roll on the summer now........ can't believe I'm actually excited about waxing my car

PS reading through the Swissol "how to do it properly" guide..... drying is done with a clean (non softened) towel.... does this mean I ditch my synthetic chamoix or is the drying off personal choice?

Oh.... and do I use my 12v orbital polisher or is that a no-no with waxes and polishing at this level?

I've used most of them. Swissol is easily the best. You get what you pay for !

Definitely Swissol. I used the Samurai wax last September, brilliant finish. All I do now is wash the car with the Swissol car bath liquid and dry with a soft towel. Get some strange looks from the neighbours but the car still looks as though its just been polished.
I wouldnt recommend the use of an orbital sander though, this can give you a bad case of the "swirls" - follow the Swissol instructions and be prepared for aching arms, it took me 5 hours to do my 03STI PPP but it was well worth the effort.

To be honest... I've washed her 3 times now and it's taken me 3 hours each time using the Turtle Wax "wax it wet" stuff which is literally spray on and wipe off with chamoix (but it does mean you can wax your car in sleet and snow as i was doing last weekend )... so an extra 2 hours is no more than i would expect with real wax! Pity about the orbital polisher though...... I mean.... pity about my arms though

Paul, do NOT use the orbital polisher, that is not necessary!! cleansing takes a fair while, but it's worth the effort, my car, (the first pic!) has not been waxed for about 3 months.... and before that was nearly a year before that!!!!!!! all it gets is a good clean with zymol non detergent washing stuff from halfords, in water, i use a micro cloth to wash, and another two to dry it off..... never fails to amaze me how it comes up!!

I used to wax it regularly, but i just don't need to now.....

the quickclay and bodyscrub do an amazing job. never tried swissol but it looks glossy which is nice.

How often do you wax/wash your car after using swisol, it just seems a bit pricy to use all the time. I know that seems tight but have to pay for food etc as well as scooby.
