Talking My Scooby Fund...Wise or Foolish

Hey All,

Just got my first full time job. And ive decided to start up a nice little savings account for my dream car, im planning on saving £10,000 over the nxt couple of years to pay the insurance and for the car, looking at about a P/R Reg Turbo.

ive had a one and only quote out of a million for £4,500.

and im young im going to live a little and probably take that offer up.

cant wait to see my mates faces when i cmoe roaring down there street

good idea to start saving early, be easier having a slush fund behind you.
paying £4500 sounds a bit steep tbh, thats nearly £90 a week.
will you be able to afford next years subs?

Would be better getting a crap car (£1000?) for that couple of years and getting some no claims bonus while you're saving. Then when you get the scoob, you're a couple of years older, have about 50% no claims bonus and the insurance is less than half the 4.5k!

Yep, seriously mate, having no NCB on these cars is what hurts and will preclude a young-un getting a relaistic quote. I'm 28, but have only been on named policies previously and ended up paying £1800! Nothing wrong with saving though; it took me 10 years before I could buy my first scooby, totally worth it though!!

Get an old girlfriend and insure it in her name with you as a named driver, the car will be yours but she will think you have bought her a subaru and put out v regularly

easy peasy
