Was this a good idea?
Was just pootling back from a night out doing bout 45-50MPH on a twisty back road when I saw a set of blue lights screaming up behind me obviously on a red call.
There was no where to pull over but I knew that there was a straight about a mile away so I just dropped a cog and floored it. Pulled away from the car behind then stopped on the straight.
Turns out it was a cop car!!! But apart from a filthy look he just cruised past. My passanger was shaking and giving me a bit of an earfull. ( I have only been seeing her for about 3 weeks), I tought it was the best I thing I could have done in the situation. What do you all reckon?

If nowhere to stop and pullover safely, I should think the correct response would be to stay at the speed limit, and let him make the decision whether to go or not. As not to hold him up any longer than possible.

In a rescue course I learnt that the first priority in an accident, is to not create a second one. With this thought, you should pull over at the first opportunity, but if an opportunity does not arise, certainly don't break the law! Assume an accident was caused during this manoever that was clearly not your fault. If you were under the limit, you'd be home dry. If you were over "I was speeding to help the police" is not a valid defence. Even if it was an ambulance full of dying orphans, you are still liable for your actions.
