Scooby v GTIR event

Scooby v GTIR event
I've been putting together a list of cars on the GTIR forum with a view to the event happening around the end of March/start of April, no location has been confirmed but i am hoping to get Bruntingthorpe, if not it will be another central location
This is a copy of the e-mail response from Redline magazine regarding the shootout, bottom line seems to be that we need well modded cars that are as good as guarenteed to attend,
Hi,
I'll write this as a list of points, as it'll make it easier to get across what we need...
- We'd only want well modified cars - testing a standard, or exhaust and filter car is a waste of time.
- You may have to rethink the handling side of things as it adds a host of difficulties with regards to finding a venue, and timing it accurately
- A top speed, 0-60, 1/4 mile shootot has been done before but it's the simplest way to test a bunch of cars over one day and find a 'winner'
– A big event with spectators etc is a different ball game entirely as you need to supply catering, toilets, barriers, marshalls etc etc - It's big money and big logistics – so it would be best to keep it small and simple and invite only.
- From our point of view we'd ideally need between 10 and 20 cars in total, with equal numbers on each side.
- If the cars are guarentee'd and strong enough we could potentially arrange and sort out the location. Either way we'd supply timing gear.
- What we'd need from you is a list of cars with approx power figures and a date or dates that the cars would be able to attend.
- If a GTi-R V Scooby shootout doesn't materialise, there's no reason why we couldn't do just a GTi-R one..
Keep me posted and let me know how you get on.
Banzai are still very interested, i'll be in touch with them to see what they have to can do.
The GTIR list is looking very strong, 2/3 500bhp cars and the onter 6/7 are between 345-450bhp!!!!!
If you are interested please send me a pm including a spec list and estimated power outut, if you have any proven times let me know so i can pass them on to the magazines, it can only help.
I hope to here from people soon.......
DEAN.

merely to point out that there is already a large, magazine covered scooby speed event. creating a further event with GTI-Rs will add to an already busy calender IMHO.
The final arrangements for ScoobyShootout 2005 are being made as we speak.
I remain to be convinced that the 500hp GTI-Rs will be running properly in the first half of this year. I know they are coming, I was at a RR day at PTS in January and met up with some of the people building the a few of the cars in question. But I think it's a little soon to be booking them into events assuming they won't start breaking the next link in the (drive) train!

I agree with pete1977,
Jason Gant ran an 11.09 at TOTB, Lou Rob has run similar times this year, Tuning Japanese are set to attend and have a couple of 500 bhp cars ready to race, there will be a 2.2 GTIR with 400 bhp and another 8/10 cars boasting between 350 and 450 bhp.
These cars are built, running and ready to prove it!!

also should add i have 20 places reserved for non-scoobs at scoobyshootout2, if some of the top gtir-s wanted to run on the 22nd may at this we'd be happy to include them in the invited car list, just let us know

Jonee,
That looks like a tuning japanese dyno sheet. You may find torque comes in a lot sooner if you get it onto some decent rollers I would be more impressed it it had a power band wider than the 1000rpm the graph suggests.

I'm sure it's great fun to drive, although it must be a little laggy with max torque at 7000rpm. I'm also a little surprised at the 49C temp on the day !
