Locking wheel nuts??
#1
Collecting my MY00 from Holland at the end of the week and called Demon Tweeks to order some locking wheel nuts. However I was told that they need some details of the standard nuts i.e. length etc before they know which ones to send.
I know people have previously bought these so is there a code or model number I can quote so I can order them now ???
Thanks
Matt

huh?? How odd. I ordered my set of Paddy Hopkirk locking wheelnuts from Demon Tweeks and all they asked was the type of car, so I told them it was a MY94 Impreza, and they supplied the correct nuts no problem.

Not a direct answer to your question, but a solution none the less - get some from a uk dealer (as above) - cost less than £20 including postage and packing (for my WRX). I'm sure you can fit them yourself.
They're good too - I've seen some locking wheel nuts that you could undo with a monkey wrench, wheras these are round on the outside, with the key inside.

Question regarding locking wheel nuts - I have 17" BK 7 spoke alloys fitted to a 1994 WRX with 1" long chrome nuts/bolts - will 'standard' locking nuts fit or do I need special one??????????

Same as Markus if you mention its the Paddy Hopkirk ones you are after and say they are for a Subaru Imperza they will be with you in a day or two , you don't want to be having those nasty sticky out Subaru ones YUK!

I followed the tread on this before and bought the Paddy Hopkirk ones. They are huge and ugly, and stick out a mile. If I needed any more I would buy the Subaru type, since from what I've seen (despite what Croydon has to say) they are neat and almost flush.

I got mine from Halfords.
Cost about 17 pounds
A chart tells you which ones to get (only one type for Imprezas as I recall unless you have non standard wheels).
Over 100000 combinations on lock
You can fit them yourself
A plastic red cap covers the nut and is almost flush. This adds extra security as without the right tool the cap is hard to remove. Not too easy even with it.
Quite discrete but the red cap will catch the eye of any scum and hopefully put them off.
All the best

555 blue MY00 from Gertjan - great bloke!
ps to those who have fitted locking nuts where do you keep the lock nut. Leaving it in the car whilst unattended defeats the object of the security somewhat but if you dont and have a puncture....
I guess if they are prepared to break in to your car to search for the nut its not just the wheels they are after. Is this the correct scum logic?

Have halfords changed their nuts? I heard there were only a couple of keys for the nuts that fitted subaru.
I keep the key hidden in the car - like you say, for puncture reasons - not looking stupid when having new brakes fitted only to find you can't remove the wheels, changing wheels/pads on track.
There are pleanty of places to hide the key, and the alarm should be going off.

Ian,
No, they were the right ones, had a Paddy Hopkirk logo on the package. I presume they changed their design. I looked at a few others at Bentley and couldn't find any similar ones, perhaps mine are prototypes for the next bond car (to be used for puncturing the tyres of passing villains).
Croydon? Just a shot in the dark really, I know a couple of people in your line of work (which you have mentioned here) and we got talking about this BB.
I really don't know what the Croydon thing is about though.
