Nutter - can't believe I actually did a passenger lap with Steff around the Ring Must have been mad. I think it is safe to say that Steff's car wasn't entirely standard. He had a BPM Twister exhaust at one point which was the loudest I've ever heard on a Scoob

I'm sorry, but where exactly is the "loads of air" bit?

There's another video of Stef at the Ring from side on - not sure if it's the same bit of road- where he does spend a fair bit of time in the air and the impression of the true speed is much better than the usual vids

Yep he did post a short time ago so still keeps an Eye on the Board. IIRC he said he might come to Bedford.

I watched 'Cossiekiller at The Ring' for the first time in years last week, really brought back some good memories. I even dug out my old master tapes from my last few trips, I so wish I'd got round to doing the sequel. The clip with Mike Rainbird swearing in the back of CK1 as it takes off over Pflanzgarten 2 is just hilarious!!
May well have to get a copy of John's dvd to quench my thirst!
I can still feel The Ring calling me.............

S.

PS Apologies to anyone who has no idea who or what CK1 and Cossiekiller are.

PPS The ultimate version of 'The Ring' in a game will be available in April when Forza Motorsport is released on Xbox.

I have watched the clip a few times in the past. The porkers must have been going exceedingly slowly IMHO. The scoob does look quick though.

Any ideas what sort of times he used to post???

Gary

Phil ........ Not coming over for Easter. Got caught out a couple of times on full weekends at the end of last year. 30 minute waits to get off the track and loads of closures. Instead we are opting for half weekens and HOPEFULLY more track time due to less people and less closures. Thats the theory anyway. Already booked for March April and May ..... trying to go once a month if possible.

If you get bored and you havent already seen it have a look on
www.northloop.co.uk
you might even make a special guest appearance at the end of the easter video

Lord of the Ring? - that's what Steff would have liked He is certainly committed. The only problem I had with Stef (and I've been a passenger with him a couple of times) is that he didn't know his limits. There were times when I was actually scared - that's not good driving. When I've been out with people I consider to be excellent drivers (like John Felstead for instance) - I've never felt that. When John is driving, the car is under control and it's the person driving the car rather than the other way round - if that makes sense. Good clips though

I rememeber a wet trackday at Croft back in early 2001 when I had passenger laps with Stef, Pete Croney and Mike Wood - they all scared me!

Those were the days

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I know JF did that sort of time or quicker on his first weekend there but he was in his monster westy.

Fair play to the man if he did 8.12 on his 3rd or 4th lap but it dont seem very feasible to me. Before you all shout at me im not saying it cant be done but I dont see it. Maybe with JF sat beside him but even then im not convinced.

Gary,

Believe me it happened!

I went with the first Scoob convoy to Nurburg back in 99 or 00 (cant remember which year now it was that far back).

Stef was quite a celebrity on here and on track during the early few years of 2000. He must of done at least 30 track days every year.

While he wasn't the best driver in the ever, he made up for it with big ***** and the determination in keeping the loud pedal welded to the floor.

He made a big name for himself for mashing a lot of much more powerful cars around various tracks in his humble UK Scooby.

Regards,
Shaun.

As I said im not saying it didn't happen, BUT .... I like to think I go at a fair lick and after around 140 laps I can get the scoob to 8.33. I have been in a well driven 964RS which has done 100's of laps and it does 8.20. I just dont see someone having done 3 / 4 laps doing that time. There is no way you would know when to and not to be nailed. You can't see round bends, 90% are blind so you dont know if you need to brake lift or be flat.

Need to see proof I think ....

Gary
