Default Oil temp before revving?

Had an oil temp gauge fitted last month and was wondering what temperature is best before red lining the engine - was thinking around 70 degrees C ?

Why do you want to redline it?

depends on the car and turbo. Power can trail off at high rpms.

Wheres the sensor? Above No. 3 or on the sump? On the sump willl be a lower temp. Personally no real stick until 90+ (i.e Normal Temp) but mild boost from 60 ish. (No .3)

I wait till 80 for full revs/full boost.

If you change gear and your power at wheels is lower than it was and you weren't at the red line, you changed too early. Changing beyond peak power will give better acceleration usually.

Mine is above number 3, but in this weather it doesn't go over 85 on cruise.

Have you got extra cooling John? Mine's above no3 and using 15W 50 Motul, hard use gets upto 220F (105 deg c) ie 100 constant on motorway, Normal use is 200F (93 deg c)

About 15 mins to hit full running temp.

No extra cooling, have a FMIC in the way of the rad as well. I don't cruise at 100 mph, I mean indicated 80mph, probably 75 mph. If I chase a bike on a summer day, 110C. Cruise on a hot day, 90C.
