Exclamation PLEASE HELP! URGENTLY NEED TO BORROW/BUY CENTRE CAT PIPE

for a uk classic turbo.

in a nutshell my car failed on emissions at my previously friendly garage (a few changes have put a stop to this now) i run a full decat and general feedback is that it should be ok with just the centre. it's not a million miles away at the mo (0.51% CO) so i'm hoping this will do the trick.

does anyone have one kicking around that they want to sell?
or has anyone have one they can spare for a day or two for a few beers?

being a dozy **** my MOT runs out on monday so i need to get something sorted a bit sharpish, so very desperate to sort something out over the weekend.

ta

i know this shouldn't really be here mods, but if you could hold off on moving it for a little while that would be much appreciated

cheers

OH, thats bad news m8, my garage also does the "turn the other cheek" thing on my full decat exhaust come mot time, so know where you're coming from on that score
I've got a full my99 standard exhaust in my garage, but a little too far for you to come and borrow it
Hope you have some luck closer to home.

I still have the centre cat from my classic import wrx and you are welcome to borrow that if it fits. I am in north london which is a bit better if you are really stuck.
Good luck

Have you gone on the Kentscoobies forum on the SIDC site, Pele may be able to help you out.

Emissions...... DOH!
Right, couple of tips, ensure the car has been serviced quite near to the point your having the MOT done, ensure the car is hot before they take it on (should reduce emissions quite well, considering that my MY00 PPP'd decat ran 0.01% with 30k on the clock, thats what you should be aiming at (and there was NO cheating either )
Put the best fuel you can in her, burns cleaner, less emissions (supposedly )

i se this soooooo many times and have to question its validity....

Every mot i have seen, the tester follows a set procedure, and the emmisions test is usually midway, or toward the later half of the test, by which time the engine has been turned off or cooling down.

My station has commented on several occasions, tht he has to get the cat warm before it lights up, so why go to all the trouble...

and how many times have you rolled up to a test centre and they have been chomping on the bit to get your car onto the ramps and retested for defects??....... ihmo never..

its usually a 10 or 15 minute wait..

whereabouts are you mate? and is it possible to pick this up over the weekend (sat if poss). how much do you want for it or do you want it back for yourself?

cheers for the other replies guys, gives me a few options to fall back on if all else fails

tony, service is due next fri so probably about the worst time if this makes a bit difference, optimax all the time (needs to be coz TEK2) and the guy put in the dipstick temp reader and took it above 80'c so i guess it was running about as warm as it will be? (all things considered that is)

does the first exit take you down to a sort of big r/bout with loads of traffic lights? (told you i was useless)

right leads to lakeside, sort of left takes you onto the A13 towards circus tavern?

Got one in the garage that is not of any value to me, and will end up in the skip when I get around to it.

You can either collect or have it for postage costs.
