Yipeeee - Spec B tomorrow
I am pleased to say that all has gone according to plan and the Porsche departs tomorrow and in it's place comes a Legacy Spec B Saloon with rear spoiler.
Now although getting rid of a 5 month old Porsche might sound odd, but boy are we looking forward to it's replacement.
If anyone ever thinks of upgrading their Scoobie to a Porsche, I would think very carefully.

In general terms the Boxster is supposed to be one of the least depreciational cars you can buy. I suppose that chopping in any new car after only one year you will be hit with some sort of depreciation. I doubt any car in the subaru range is a depreciaiton beater especially a legacy.

Have you driven one yet?
If not, go and have a drive. It was either a Spec B or 05 STI. I took out the STI for the 1st leg of a test drive and drove it to where the B was located (About 16 miles) at a different branch. The car was raw and an absolute hoot to drive.
Then we picked up the Spec B and it was such a different beast. The performance was not too disimilar to the Boxster, but it was also so very refined.
I really am looking forward to it, plus if you can find one of the cars that Subaru asked it's dealers to register on the 31st January there is approx £2-3k off list. The downside being that the free servicing offer isn't part of the deal.

Got the same as you Catherine, with spoiler, in black. Had ours 2.5 months and enjoying every minute. Ours was a replacement for a Forester Turbo. Be interested to share experiences. Handling is amazingly reassuring - having spent a lot of money upgrading our impreza turbo to handle better, and the Leggie does it all pretty much the same.

My local dealer is in Gloucestershire and traditionally they don't stock the saloon. Being horsey country everyone goes for the wagon or the outback.
The Sales Manager decided to put a Spec B Saloon in the showroom and they have sold 5 since the start of the year, instead of 2 for the whole of last year.
Basically they always put a Spec B saloon next to an STI and then let the customer decide.

Common as muck those Spec B's
Promised the missus I wouldn't mod mine, so the car is going back under warranty for a new exhaust.
Blitz twin muffler for Spec B is £385 + shipping from STi Racing, time to let that flat 6 really sing.

Hi Gooner,
I'm Catherine's other 'arf, and like her looking forward to the Legacy. We were wondering, is this new exhaust ok in terms of the warranty, and how do you go about ordering one.
Despite the problems with the Porsche, It'll be a shame to let it go, but at least the replacement should be a worthy one

Yes it is, and we've found them unlike any other car dealership we've ever dealt with (and in the past 18 months, we've dealt with nearly all of them - seriously!!!
This is our 2nd Scoob from them, the first being an Impreza WRX wagon SL
I'd recommend them any day of the week.

Available from Simon at www.stiracing.com delivery is around 4-6 weeks and carriage is £150ish.
I don't think they are as loud as the Nur Spec R systems and I'm not sure if they come with bungs, but I know you can get bungs if they're too loud.
As for warranty, Hmm well technically you are interfering with the factory set-up, although it's very, very unlikely they would cause any damage on a normally aspirated engine.
I would like to see Subaru try and refuse a warranty claim with just a back box change on one of these cars, particuarly when they offer no alternative themselves.

If your interested in a dedicated Legacy forum.
Pop over to here
UK Legacy forum
It's new, but growing in numbers, would be nice to have 'B-spec' owners on there

Thanks Mark,
Might not be for a while though - it'll probably take me all my time to prize Catherine's hands off the steering wheel!!! I'm at work (boo), while she gets to pick the car up
Look forward to it all the same, thanks for the invite

Well I am pleased to say the Spec B is home. All I need now are some new batteries for the camera and it's photo time.
I am very impressed with it so far, I put a tankful of optimax in it and then it's just a case of getting the first 1,000 miles on it.
