And the winner is............................

In todays Autocar mag, there is an article where they test the handling of 18 cars around some circuit in France.
The Impreza model was represented by the P1, and where did it finish? Well down the order!!!! It was even beaten by a Holden!!
The winner was the 911 Turbo, although the Caterham R500 got fastest lap.
An interesting read...........

I second that.
evo magazine (probably the finest auto mag) pitted the P1 against the 550M, the P1 having just beaten 14-15 other drivers cars. Nuff said

That maybe, but in this test it was a long way back. The opinion of the testers is subjective, of course, but the lap times speak for themselves. Seven cars were quicker around the circuit on the day.

Yeah 7 cars beat it, but what great cars!
Porker turbo, Lotus 340R and Exige, Lambo, not too shabby!
The Holden has a monster engine (261 bhp/tonne)and would kill the Scoob on the straights.
If you read the 'Waterproof' story the P1 is choosen as one of the top 6 cars in the dry(regardless of lap time) and it was rated as the 'friendliest' in the wet - very applicable to average drivers on British roads!
Cheers,
Chuck

Oh dear...
I'd better sell my car and buy a new 911 turbo then.
A couple of points - the Impreza never was the fastest, best handling car on the planet. Some of us seem to have a problem accepting that.
It is however, undisputably fast, practical, and cheap (relative to a 911 turbo). Who cares if a Caterham is faster around a circuit?? An Impreza is compromised by having practicality and low cost as design goals. It is still a brilliant all-rounder, if not 'ultimate' in any respect and Subaru deserves credit for acheiving that at an affordable price (apart from the P1 that is ).
Cheers,
Alex
