MY99 or not

MY99 or not
My car was first registered new in September 1999 with 280 miles on the clock (import from Ireland) but the brakes are two pot and the front grill has two fins at the sides, when did the change to four pots start...methinks I have a MY98 car, confusing when I need to buy spares.
When I took it to Scoobyclinic for a new cambelt they commented on the fact it had two pot brakes and should be four for the year of the car, V reg.
If these help,
Model No.GC8FK8D
Air flow meter no. 22680AA280
Cheers,
Martin

Mine is a MY99 T-plate and has four pots.
Maybe there was a fault with the brakes and they were replaced by the previous owner.
Did scoobyclinic change the cambelt tensioner because they are different on a MY99-00 (prone to faults) this could tell you whether its MY99.
You will also be able to tell off the top mount intercooler

Sounds plausible! Brakes replaced by a cheaper version! Is it only the grill thats different???? Is the bumper the same as a 98 or 99-00???? Check out the members gallery and look at my front end. Mines on a T plate. Is it a 99 with a 98 front after an accident??? Hope not, but ya never know

No accidents, owner had it from new with no mods apart from a Magnex backbox, had a look at Steves site, http://www.iwoc.co.uk/ukcode.html and have come to the conclusion it is a 98 car, intercooler does not have the blow off valve directly attached at the front but on a hose underneath, this changed on 99 cars, it was first registered in September 99 so the owner sold it as a 99 car which i feel a bit miffed about but I still like the car so am not complaining, I would like to upgrade the brakes to four pots if they are a direct fit.
Thanks for the replies.

The manufacturer year is on the seat belt labels.
I had this with my car, i bought it thinking it was a MY96 (N) without knowing
how to check out the year.
Obviously became a bit more clued up and found out it was a my94 !
Still it's a minter and i'm pleased with it, that's all that matters bud
