05 STI Type UK PPP V's EVO 260
Hi Folks,
Can anyone reliably tell me how the 05 STI Type UK PPP would fair against the EVO 260 in terms of acceleration only please.
Looking for someone who has had a tussle with the Evo.
Not interested in getting magazine figures quoted to me.
Thanks
Bob.

LOL. What a strange post. The number of users who own an 05sti type uk PPP, even on this forum, will be fairly small. The number of users with an MR 260 are likely to be fewer still. Multiply the two unlikelihoods together to get the probability that members of these two groups of users have done a real-world quantitative comparison and you'll get a very rarefied group indeed. If you were even to score an unlikely hit, you'll probably get some ill-thought-out subjective bull rather than anything useful.
I'd go for some real road-test stats if I were you.

Your post certainly wasn't in English. Then again, Manchester... that's where chaos. hails from, innit?

It also only has a 5 speed box, I kept trying to change into reverse thinking it was sixth.
Change the induction and exhaust and things would be differant. 330bhp is farly common output for £2k of modding.

I think the quotes of the STI beating the pants off are nonsense!
and they were made from some very extensive " I drove one and then the other" tests!!!
what a load of pants.
I had an 02 STI PPP a few weeks back and it takes the exact same distance to get to 105mph as the EVO 260... and that is fact from loads of runs. Are you telling me that the new 05 STI is somehow miraculously incredibly faster than the 02?
and another thing..... prodrive quote 4.6 to 60mph.... was that on a day where the ambient temp was - 20 degrees centigrade... with a tail wind of 1oomph?...................because every mag I have read cannot get near it........ and 0 - 60 times are quoted by school boys with zits!... they mean hee haw!
The beauty of the Evo 5 speed is that all the time the STI is stirring the box, the evo is on the charge!
pah!

yes but spend £1,750 on a stage 1 tune for the EVO260 and you have a car with more power than a WR1.
They are a perfomance bargain of the year if you ask me, and the only fault people can find with them is the small spoiler big deal. Have people not seen the dodgy thing on the back of a WRX ?

This is true, but you also loose your 3 year warranty where with the PPP you dont
Tony
PS and those Evo260's depreciate like a mondeo

Tony,
That's why they are such a bargain, £16k for a 6 month old car with 4,000 miles on the clock is incredibly cheap. Chuck a stage 1 tune on and you have a reliable 335bhp all for under £18k
Pat Herborn is now doing EcuTek mapping for the 260, well actually for the all the VIII's so combine this with a full de-cat exhaust from H&S and you almost have a warranty friendly way of getting 320bhp as the map is a re-flash of the OEM ecu which dealers can't pickup on.
I'm telling you, these cars are a complete steal at the moment.
